Eldorado Posted January 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2019 In a battle against Russia more than 200 years ago, a French soldier in Napoleon's Grande Armée was slashed in the face with a saber. He died a few weeks later, his body laid to rest in a mass burial pit in what was then Königsberg, East Prussia. Now, scientists have uncovered the soldier's remains, and with cutting-edge technology, they have created a digital reconstruction of his face, according to a new study. Kittens Are Jerks Posted January 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2019 It's one thing to see skeletal remains, another to see a facial reconstruction. It really highlights the individual and human component and it's always interesting to see what the people of a certain period might have looked like.
+susieice Posted January 30, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2019 The color of his eyes and his hair are based on the appearance of most French people at the time. I would think hair style and facial hair would be based on the same thing. A DNA study would tell much more of his actual coloring. Still, it is amazing how scientists today can re-construct the skull and give us a good idea of what this person may have looked like. It puts a face to the story.
