Popular Post Still Waters Posted February 10, 2019 Popular Post #1 Share Posted February 10, 2019 Chimpanzees used a branch brought down by Storm Erik to escape their enclosure at Belfast Zoo. Zookeepers blamed the weekend's stormy weather for weakening trees inside the chimps' corral, as visitors on Saturday had a closer encounter than planned. The intelligent primates turned a branch into a makeshift ladder and scaled high walls surrounding their pen in Northern Ireland, footage posted to social media showed. The incident could have ended very badly not just for the visitors (many of whom were children), but for the animals as well. The children, terrified as they were, were really adorable. A strong storm came in the night before and downed some bamboo into the exhibit. The gorilla made his way out USING A PIECE OF BAMBOO AN INCH IN DIAMETER! They can indeed. Nasty or aggressive? Hmm...I wouldn't go as far as to say they aren't. Silverbacks, especially, can and will be hostile towards ANY male primate, including you or me. Luckily, our biggest one, Patrick, likes me. He also demands attention. He will place his enormous hand on the glass and isn't satisfied until I put mine up, too. If I'm around him and not paying him attention, he will let me know by banging on the glass and then smirking at me. Are all Gorillas aggressive towards humans? Is the silverback just the male species or the Alpha and protector, Not all chimps are nasty or aggressive towards humans. I am pretty sure many chimps will show aggression towards humans but you can't possibly say they are all nasty and aggressive. Kurtz Posted February 10, 2019 #13 Share Posted February 10, 2019 (edited) They're wild animals and very clever people tend to forget that these days i was once at Tenerife and some zoo I could see the chimpazees from a distance and got a feeling that something was not right cause the Chimpanzees were putting on some kind of show ( not a cabare) :-)and when a big crowd had gathered close to their cage they started to throw their own poo at the crowd. Gorillas are more about display gestures than outright violence, that being said, they could easily rip you apart and can be unpredictable.
