i honestly do not think any of those in power hate him, they only brainwashed their stupid snowflakes to hate everyone around, they use hate as a charade to get what they want.  they want power over sheep.  and sheep are playing right into their hands without even seeing it

I have to partially disagree.  I think some, enough hate him especially among the old guard.  It’s the only way they can remain relevant.  We are seeing a changing of the guard.  I still think that he could get along with someone like AOC and the Young Turks (freshmen Progressives).  And together they could do great things for this country.  But how do you turn around Socialism from being anti-American?  Now what a kick-in-the-pants that would be.  Socialism actually building up a nation?  Is it possible?  The thought just scrambles the neurons.  I think it will take a successful sense of accomplishment of making this country better, that will turn the Young Turks from Socialism and make their party, the American party.  That’s what the Founding Fathers envisioned.  Many hated the idea of political parties.  I guess it is too much of a pipe dream.

Sure, let's do things your way. What alternative facts have I presented? What evidence convinces you that Barney Frank, Chair of the Financial Services committee, who championed the lowering of lending standards in an ideological use of his position in spite of the requisite expertise needed to be Chair of said committee, made a simple mistake and learned from it? Because he authored a law that prevents what he did after he did it? Some call that cronyism, not progress. But I'll give you an out here. Show us an example of a Republican who similarly made a mistake, crippled a nation, bankrupted a lot of people, and were forgiven and celebrated in the name of progress by folks like you.

Well see that's difficult. Because Conservatives refuse to learn from their mistakes (see Afghanistan and Iraq) so there's not really much reason to forgive the damage they've done, is there?

Show us your attempt at superior wit wasn't simple partisan arrogance.

Mate, I'm not even American. I don't have a horse in this race so tough to be partisan. Good try with the deflection though.

I just think you and Conservatives like you are hilariously moronic. Nothing deeper than that.

I see you started at the bottom like I did, but you're ok with everyone automatically starting in the middle? A lot less strughling... learning... gaining experience?

Hi Die Checker.  Being old school, I rather value that experience of growth and the feeling of success it brings.  I don't advocate that it goes away for a life of ease.  Struggle is good if it is not drowning.  The American dream has to remain accessible for many or it ceases to be a driving force.

People don't need to start out in the middle, I am just not sure where the bottom is.  If one can't get to the first rung of the ladder, then the climb never begins.  That seems a bad result for individuals and our society.

I worked a bit during college and every summer.  The thousand dollars or so I saved  from summer work took care of all of my weekend meals and most of the book costs. Four hours doing mind numbing sample prep in a geology lab or a dinner shift on the dish crew would buy me a new text book or two used ones.

Now the costs of room and board, tuition, text books and accessories have  risen by 10x over those years while wages for the sort of work I was doing increased by 5x or 6x.  And of course many of the rote jobs are being automated.

I see this as a looming problem for our way of life.  It is going to change.  Will it be DIckensian, with a large separation of classes and the poor never to rise above their circumstances?  Will it be dystopic with disenchanted and rebellious citizens held at bay by a totalitarian government?   Probably neither, those are just too dramatic, but will it lead to a greater America or a lesser one?

Just giving people money is not the best solution.  Anything that would really help to make a vibrant and successful future for most the Americans would take a lot more thought and effort.   Sadly, I don't think we are up to it.

Yeah, Conservatives never learn but liberals are quick to change their mind. Did you just start following American politics in the last month?

I realize you aren't American, kinda obvious when your location is England. You don't have to be American to choose sides, let me know when you have the courage to discuss specifics of what makes Conservatives morons.

Yes "they" were wrong as far as we can see, but they knew what they were doing all along. We didn't do Iraq/Afghanistan for the stated reasons. And the Dems knew this and were in on it, too.  Essentially, they were deep state operations.  Anyway, my opinion. But I can back that up.

Ha man that post is sad. You got called out and owned and that your ultimate conclusion is a broad stroke insult illustrates that perfectly.

Luckily, I don't rely on your opinion to decide on the quality of my posts. If I did, I would talk in easy soundbites. Like dismissing anything I don't like as 'sad'. That's what seems to get your crowd going lately.

Not a broad insult at all.

Unless you think most Conservatives are like him and therefore moronic?

You're a petty little partisan who is all too eager to stick your nose in our business and judge a hundred million people you've never met.

Actually, generic "Iraq and Afghanistan" are easy soundbites. Doubling down on "moronic" is one as well. The world is full of blokes with sly grins who don't realize they are sitting on the wrong end of a pub stool.

As was your original post. Just unsubstantiated waffle to try and paint anyone who disagrees with you in a bad light.

If you can't take it, as they say...

I bet money that woman hates this country and all it stands for. I don't even question her patriotism because not a shred of it exists.

I did and her comment DID gloss over the “something” that some people did and instead went onto how others were taking away their rights.

While she’s right, bad stuff did happen to the Muslim community because that “something” was the murder of 3000 people, she skipped that and went on to how oppressed they were.

This is not obvious to me. Why do you think these people could get along or share goals.?

We are seeing a changing of the guard with Democrats as far as I can tell, but I don't see anything similar in Republicans.

The question becomes, how do you form a government that is based on the Constitution and yet responsive to change in the world and society?    I do think it can be done, but it requires thought and commitment, and probably a changing of the guard.

For example, how does a democracy of, by, and for the people handle an economy moving in new directions.  What does automation do to our view of the middle class?  Good paying jobs may be technicians that require a couple of years of college and number a fraction of the current work force.  What happens when the monopoly game is over?  Do the elite own all of the robots and AI systems?  Not too far down the road even jobs we consider Human thinking jobs will see inroads from expert systems, fancy algorithms, and Artificial Intelligence.Do you just claim the principle of ultimate freedom and let the unemployed pile up in disposal areas somewhere?  Does it become a government of, by, and for the elite?
