Not just most states in the U.S.  All states in the U.S and most of the rest of the world.

So then can you see that these issues need to be investigated and it has nothing to do with an "emotional response"?

Wow…  How embarrassing and to think we are fellow Burquenos.  You must be a liberal from the sNob Hill area?

1) she was not a mail order bride.

2) they are not an asylum seeker.

3)  That’s the point, that you can’t compare one that is a bit over anxious and someone clearly breaking the law.

Yes they are.  It is customary to seek asylum in the very next nation you come to.  How can it be asylum by shopping around?  The United States does not have a monopoly on places for asylum seekers.

Yes they do.  They can get housing, EBT cards, medical, send their children to schools, etc.

That used to be the case.  If we returned to that, it wouldn’t really matter if we had an open border or not.  Just allow the police to do their jobs.

I wish I was.  But other countries don’t give out handouts.

How ‘bout that!  What do you think sanctuary states and cities provide?

Trump has threatened to do that but is getting push back with these liberal courts.

Right, wink-wink.  Many are not detained and only given a court date to which very few ever show up to.  You don’t know this and you live here in Albuquerque?  The Progressives in Congress refuse to provide more funds for detainment.

They can’t be sent back if they are not in custody.

That may be the way it was designed??  It’s not that clear and that’s not how it works in reality.

No $-hit but our lawmakers are not interested.  The Progressives keep espousing that they want a comprehensive solution but that is only code for codifying an open border.  What is needed is to shut down the border so tight that not even a flee can cross.  Only then can a solution be developed.  An open border is conducive to the saying “it is easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask for permission”.  An open border only encourages abuse.

There we agree.

What ever you did to embarrass yourself is your problem.

Based on this I am guessing you are a transplant from the midwest, you probably even think Madrid is pronounced "Maaaadrid".  You guess wrong about me being a liberal and I find it funny that any time someone disagrees with certain groups of people they use that as their starting point, calling someone a liberal or a right-wing.  It is a weak place to start a discussion or even an argument, name calling.  My politics has nothing to do with the neighborhood I live in, that is the best part of living in Albuquerque, there are no "neighborhoods" based on anything but finances and/or desire to live in a certain area.

P.S.  I don't' know any one local who uses the term "Burquenos"

Yeah, that's why it is not used by locals.  Taco bell is not real mexican food.  Those pesky midwesterners have moved in and tried to make it their city.  I can tell because the californians know the language.  So, I probably just stepped on some toes.  Not that I don't like midwesterners, it is those that move to Albuquerque and pretend like they know the culture, which they don't.  Most of them move here to be more "spiritual" because they can't afford to live in Sedona or Santa Fe.

I know I have just insulted a bunch of people but it is your choice to take offense.  I choose to be offended sometimes too.

It has an amusing backstory.  Albuquerque is named after a Spanish town that was in turn named in Arabic and Latin for "White Oak".

Albuquerque was named after the Duke who financed the warrior priests voyage and journey to California.  Some stayed in this area and founded a town because there were natives to convert.  Interesting about the word though, the original meaning is not taught in school.  However, it is taught here the history of Spain and the invasions between Spain and the arabs.  Why do you think the word god in Spanish is Allah?

I guess I did skip a step.  The Duke was the Duke of Albuquerque- the town in Spain.

Funny you say that @Desertrat56 when my Husband first moved to Australia from the USA, he missed Taco Bell like crazy!  Then we tried the Mexican food restaurants here and he quickly became bitterly disappointed in the quality and authenticity.  I'm afraid we're just too far from the authentic thing - but we did manage to get some amazing recipes off some Mexican friends online and we just do the homemade thing now.

When I lived in Georgia there was a guy who retired from the army in Augusta.  He was from Texas and opened a mexican restaraunt.  Mostly the GIs from Fort Gorden frequented the place.  The food was good but not what I was used to.  We have fresh chile in New Mexico.  Texan usually use dried chile and the call it chillie.

I am not going to defend open borders because I do not support the concept.  People that come to the US should do so through entry points.  We do rely heavily on Hispanic labor in agriculture and other industries.

Thank you @Tatetopa that was a beautifully written reply :)

Do you think relying heavily on hispanic labour in agriculture and other industries contributes to the numbers of illegal aliens attempting to cross the border?

OR are you talking about actual hispanic citizens here?

Yes, I think it is a big draw for people to come and work.  There have been times in the past when temporary work permits were given, now I think the system is a bit screwed up.  Farmers and contractors and factories that hire illegal immigrants are breaking US law.  There is spotty enforcement of that law.  Sometimes ICE does raid factories and farms.

Farmers claim they can't hire enough or pay enough to avoid hiring illegals, they would go broke.  They nay be right.  We need to fix our immigration system.  Maybe people need to come and work through the harvests and then go home for six months or something so they are not permanent residents.  Perhaps they get on the list for full time residence.  Factories do it to compete.  If you are illegal you don't have the protections US citizens have.  You can get ripped off by your boss shorting you on pay, and there is nobody to complain to if you are not a legal resident.  That all needs to be fixed.

As long as employers are willing to hire illegal workers on the sly, they will come.  Even getting paid by the pound or crate for picking lettuce or tomatoes of other produce, a person might make $50 or more per day.  A family of four all working might make $1000 in a week.  That may not be a lot by American standards for back breaking hot dirty labor 10 hours a day, but it is a fortune in some parts of Mexico of Central America.

Well you can be an American citizen and be a criminal was my point, and city police are there to stop crime if they can, not do the job of ICE..  Gang members can be are legal residents, and natural born citizens too and still can participate in  criminal activities like drug dealing, theft, extortion, torture, and murder.  I am not making excuses for people here illegally by trying to imply that somehow they are not criminals.

Tell me if I'm not understanding this properly please as I could be looking at this too black and white:

The hardest part for me is to understand is how a US Farmer can continue to pay cash to illegal immigrants simply because he is too cheap to pay proper wages/can't afford it etc and hence takes jobs and employment from his own country's citizens.

I do understand the Farmer's are sometimes in dire need of aid as the same thing happens here.  However, I find it a tad rude that people treat illegal immigrants like this, even though the immigrants WANT TO WORK as the cash wages they'd receive would be worth a lot more in their own country etc.

The farmer obviously knows he shouldn't employ illegal immigrants but he does it because he can't afford proper wages.  The other sad part is related to the illegal immigrants - the Farmer sees them as needy enough, where the Farmer is exploiting the illegal immigrant in a way by paying the illegal immigrant cheap wages, like they're not worth of any more or equal pay (which of course they aren't, because they're an illegal immigrant).  This is a perpetually vicious circle that never gets fixed.

Metaphorically speaking, it's like leaving scraps out for some birds or ducks at the park......once they realise they're going to get fed, they keep coming back, not just by themselves, but in huge droves as this example shares the same common characteristics as the Farmers who continue to support paying cheap wages to the illegal immigrants.  And around the circle goes again.  :(  (Yes, I've likened illegal immigrants to birds/ducks there but you get the drift of what I'm saying). :)

Two Marines Arrested for Allegedly Smuggling Migrants Across Border

Two U.S. Marines in California were arrested last week and charged with smuggling undocumented immigrants across the southern border, according to reports.

Border Patrol agents arrested Marine Lance Corporals Byron Law II and David Salazar-Quintero of Camp Pendleton on July 3, after apprehending them in their car with three undocumented immigrants, who informed authorities they were citizens of Mexico without documentation.

The active-duty soldiers face the federal charge of “transportation of certain aliens for financial gain.” Both confessed to authorities that they have transported migrants more than once, including the previous day.

Sounds like Portsmouth has a couple of new inmates on the way.  Hard labor, hopefully.

This just isn't true.  They receive housing, medical, and food stamps.  Their children get an education - including deference to their native language in many cases.  And whether the Left admits it or not, it has always been that way.  No one comes here and lives as a breatharian.

Trump may have been being racist when he made his "go home" comment,.

I REALLY would appreciate it if someone would explain that thought process to me.  His statement was that they should go back to where they came from, fix their own problems then come back and show us how it's done.  To take that and make it about race is a sign of how warped our language has become.  The Race-Card is like a force field that protects people from any information they don't like or agree with.

Every one of those Congress members come from troubled districts that are worse off than most of America.  They complain incessantly about national problems when they haven't even tended to the problems of their own constituents.  The 4 of them are disgusting, anti-American agitators and I sincerely hope they are one-term wonders.

In this case, “biggest most widely watched” isn’t the indicator of whether something is MSM or not.  MSM usually refers to the propaganda arm of the Progressives.  The MSM runs about 96% negative toward President Trump.  FOX is about 52% positive.  Far more balanced and people see that.  That is why FOX’s viewership is rising.  The MSM assumes that viewers are stupid.  This is true only for a few of the most vocal.

It’s not pretending.  It’s more about uncertainty.  If one tries to callout the bad stuff, one is usually casted and attacked as a racist among other things.  It’s that stigma that creates uncertainty.  That is how the minority terrorizes the majority.  I think that in time, this will change, but we’ll need to get through another election seeing Trump winning a second term.  By this time, the Socialists will be well marginalized.

I used to watch several to get different points of view.  But over the past dozen years or so, I noticed how it was becoming homogenized and Left leaning.  Today, I rarely do watch anything else but FOX because the rest have become a joke.  It’s hard to stomach.  They have reneged on their 1st Amendment rights as the 4th Estate.  It’s really sad.

Yes, Trump makes a lot of noise but it is not without purpose.  I.e. by supporting Pelosi, has made her a target of the Squad and that has branded the Democrats as Socialists.  Very devious.  Trump is dealing with more opposition too.  Bush, Clinton, & Obama were all part of the Establishment.  Trump is not.  He has to take on the Establishment before he can accomplish these things on the scale he wants.  He’s fighting and winning the smaller battles first to get everything in place for that final push.

Yes he does.  He’s uplifting and positive.  He returns pride back to a nation that had to suffer the apology tour.  It’s the difference between night and day.  Those that fear the daylight wallow in hatred in the darkness.

Domestic gangs where not the focus of this latest raid.  It was a trial run for what is to come.  Somehow, I wonder if that announcing the raids where a planned distraction to catch the MS13 members?  The first time was to set up surveillance on MS13 – see what they do, where they go.  The second time sprung the trap??  It was a way to get around sanctuary cities.  The next step is to go after those that have had due process and have been ordered to leave.  Now, the sanctuary cities can try to interfere but it won’t help.

The President didn’t have to tell us they were rapists and murderers.  All illegals are criminals.  Not all are rapists and murderers.

LAPD does not work with ICE.  They hvae no jurisdiction over MS13, if they are illegal.  If they are arrested by LAPD, they are held only long enough for their lawyers to get them released.

UNFREEDOM OF THE PRESS by Mark Levin.  Read it and it will open your eyes even wider to just how far off course they have become.  I firmly believe they ARE an active 5th column working to take this country down through division and chaos.  If their propaganda actually leads to widespread violence, I certainly hope they find themselves to be victims of it as much as everyone else.  No one deserves it more.

Of course it is...Unfortunately we have Dems who actively oppose and hamper investigations that could round up even more of these horrifying monsters. And you seem more worried about these captures making Trump look good, so anxious to throw out there no Trump! dont look here !, Nothing to see! than you seem concerned that they murdered 24 people in truly henious ways.

The fact is...and you seem irritated by it....that they ARE illegals and they shouldn't be here...and the officials in these cities who hamper ICE should face federal charges.  Ask the parents of the murder victims if they agree.

I think I actually bolded that it was wonderful that these people were caught.  Criminals, gang members, murderers, rapists, drug dealers extortionists ALL of those people need to be apprehended and taken to the max penalty possible.  In this case, I am in favor of the death penalty.  Putting them in with general prison populations is dangerous for the other prisoners and not much punishment for them.  What do you think happens to them if we deport them because they are here illegally?   Do they buy their way out of a Central American prison in a month or two by bribing guards and come back?  I don't know do you?

Nobody should protect criminals like these and I wonder if people really do.

It is just this:  Number 1 they are dangerous, psychopathic, individuals and  a threat to our society. they need to be dealt with harshly.    That is what the local police, state police, Federal Drug and Racketeering agents are supposed to concern themselves with.  If the hand dealing drugs or pulling the trigger  is brown, black, or white; comes from Mexico, the US or Ireland should it make a difference?   Not to me.  They should be caught and stopped. Preferably before they commit murder, rape, or torture.

Where they come from is Number 2.  Can we reduce crime by tightening up the borders?  Quite possibly.  Will we eliminate crime?  Nope.  That is why we need strong and cooperative city, state, and federal law enforcement.

This whole sanctuary city thing is crazy, but it is made crazier by the media.  All municipal police forces cooperate with federal agents in drug and gang related activities even in sanctuary cities.
