Good fodder, Tat, but I think back to Thomas Jefferson, one of my fav's, and his belief that society should have a revolution every couple of decades, or so. He might be right!

And I wonder what British history books call our American Patriots, would it be terrorist? Yes, they did things like burn Torries out of their homes, which caused many of them to flee to Canada. And when it comes right down to it, only 1/3 the population was in favor of breaking away from the Crown.

All that may be true, Grom, but the Democrats do absolutely nothing in regards to offering a good, workable solution to a problem that they know is quite bad. Why is that, more politics again...? leaving it all unresolved for purposes of ridiculing Trump for the mess that it all is ??  Hey 2020 is just around the corner, ya know. "Never let a disaster go to waste".

True that.  Well except for all the immigration bills the Democrats passed that Mitch McConnell is sitting on in the Senate.  Perhaps in 2020, if the Democrats get the drivers seat back, we could go back to the low numbers and manageable borders we had under Obama.

You really didn't know?

  The 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo between the two nations, "along the deepest channel" (also known as the thalweg)—from its mouth on the Gulf of Mexico a distance of 2,020 kilometers (1,260 mi) to a point just upstream of El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. It then follows an alignment westward overland and it is marked by monuments for a distance of 859 kilometers (534 mi) to the Colorado River, when it reaches its highest elevation at the intersection with the Continental Divide. It then follows the middle of that river toward the north with a distance of 39 kilometers (24 mi), and ultimately follows an alignment overland toward the west and marked by monuments with a distance of 227 kilometers (141 mi) to the Pacific Ocean. -From the Wiki

Our border literally is in the middle of rivers with the treaty expressly forbidding either country from building things that might change that flow.  The rivers also meander so we built our wall inland on our side of the river.  It's why property owners have their own private gates in the walls.

AND the border walls on the east part of that border had to follow the laws concerning putting up fences near rivers so some of the Texas land next to the river is now on the Mexican side of the wall.  Thank Pete Sessions for that one.
