"Zombie deer disease" hits 24 US States

Chronic wasting disease has been detected in wild deer, elk or moose in 24 states, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warning hunters to avoid handling or eating potentially infected meat.

The disease affects the central nervous system and animals can show signs of drastic weight loss, lack of coordination and listlessness. It can make them more aggressive and less afraid of human contact, the center says. Chronic wasting disease is sometimes referred to as "zombie deer disease," or some other variant.

Nope. More fake hysteria. They will have a vaccine they scream we all must go get, in a nanosecond.

Horrible.  The deer populations are too large here on the East coast...due to insufficient large predators (wolves mainly, which property and livestock owners don't want reintroduced.)  But this disease causes the deer to waste away and suffer, and cross-infect their own families.  And they are innocents.

I know Pennsylvania has a very large population of deer. They are everywhere. The State is saying this disease has been reported in 5 of it's south central counties. It's been in our news for the last week or so. They suggest hunters get their meat tested and warn it may spread to other animals.

Apparantly this disease has an incubation period of over a year. This is catastrophic; unless checked, it could cause the extinction of deer in the continental USA :(

We're being told it was first found in Colorado in the 1960's.

Many states are offering testing through their wildlife services, as is PA. Hunters are having their kills tested throughout the mid-west.
