‘Mother’ & ‘father’ banned from school forms

A change to a law in France will see schools unable to refer to a child’s parents as their “mother” or “father” on school documents, instead the titles will be replaced with “parent 1” and “parent 2”.

The amendment was passed in parliament as part of the country’s Schools of Trust law and aims to reduce the discrimination faced by same-sex parents.

“We have families who find themselves faced with tick boxes stuck in rather old-fashioned social and family models."

I'd add, models that served humanity well enough to survive for millennia.  Titles that were shown to be honorable and worthy of respect for all that time now seem to be replaced by Dr. Seuss characters.  Will children soon be forbidden to publicly reference their mom's and dad's as well?

This is stupid, you could simply add boxes for Father and Father or Mother and Mother

Who would be "parent 1"? Wouldn't it be considered misogynistic, in a traditional household, for the Dad to be listed as "parent 1"?

I think it must get down to a kind of cognitive dissonance.  When labels can cause enough emotional turmoil as to make it worth the effort to remove them via legislation, someone is having too much worry over labels.

The alpha male will be parent 1.  The subordinate beta will be parent 2.  This new scheme will just reinforce the old traditional status quo.  e.g.  Victorian parents.
