With my genetics I can't tell if I want to be an albino ginger, a tan ginger, or a speckled ginger. Guess I'll go soak in vinegar and become a pickled ginger.

I don't know what derails a thread faster, religious zealots or the lack of religious zealots...

As one erudite and wise man posted, and I am paraphrasing most horribly, "Why continue to try?" Words I took to heart as I reflected on my reasons, and made a decision to no longer debate, question, or try to understand others beliefs. As has been pointed out, faith is apparently a very personal thing, and cannot be demonstrated to another.

So, my question:

Why do YOU continue to argue this issue?

Just kind of trying to get back to the original thought process of the thread...

Don't have any thoughts to add but the premise of the thread is thus:  so .....oh wait...I do have one thought...Is this really an argument?  People of faith believe...for a plethora of reasons...and people who don't, don't for a host of reasons as well...why can't you people just finally figure out that I have it all figured out and let me do your thinking for you?  It would all be just so much simpler for you and for me as well!

It also come down to what they do because of their beliefs. Same can be side for the non-believers. Perhaps the better question might be "Does belief/dis-belief make you a better person?"

Neither is relevant to what kind of a person one is.  One is what one is...which is...what one does...

Fun fact of the day: Graham crackers were invented by a fundamentalist Christian dude as a way to get people to stop jerkin' off.

Beliefs can motivate actions. The belief that X is okay in one persons mind, while X is wrong in another's. We do in many ways see the world through our beliefs, beliefs create our model of reality. Which is why Person A thinks god is evil, while Person B doesn't.

AK, you are definitely going to have to cite some sources. That is too far-fetched!
