Handbags made of exotic skins have always been a point of controversy in the fashion industry.

And Joan, a 55-year-old woman from Manchester, just expanded the definition of exotic skins with her "odd" request.

She wants a handbag made from her own skin.

Her solicitation went viral after a blog post by Boris Hodakel, the founder of Sewport -- an online marketplace of designers and manufacturers -- reposted her unusual request, along with her mock-up today (Feb 21).

Joan, who is prepared to pay up to £3,000 for the special accessory, said ideally the bag would be ‘medium-sized’ with a short strap.

The main section would be made from leather or another synthetic material, with skin from her leg used to create a feature section down the middle.

‘I was reading about the human waste scandal where they just dumped body parts in a dump to rot and I don’t want that to happen to me.

This women is obviously not getting it, it is only her leg, not her whole body being amputated. If she wants to keep it, fine, stick it in a jar of formaldehyde.

Saying that, for £3.000 i doubt she will have a problem with someone taking up her offer, people make leather items, am sure they would stick her skin on the side of a bag for that amount of money.
