Black Red Devil

Greta Thunberg, a 15-year-old environmental activist from Sweden, scolded world leaders on what she says is their failure to address climate change, accusing negotiators of abandoning young people and stealing their futures via inaction.

Way to go kid.  Time to push these old damaging goofs outta the way.  The future is yours not theirs. :tsu:

They seem all soft and socialist around the edges but they have a core of toughness developed over a couple of thousand years of living in a harsh warlike climate.  The Swedes were able to handle most of what came along and even went out looking for trouble.  They put their mark on Russia a thousand years ago, and Iceland has a democracy that is 1000 years old now.  They may outlast us.

Knowing the Swedes, they may have Stockholm elevated by 50 feet when Tampa, New Orleans, New York, Houston and Mobile are underwater and we are still believing climate change was invented by the Chinese.

I was just considering the reality of the rape epidemic their politicians have unleashed on their womenfolk.  I'm sure their future looks bright...

So we consider a 15 year old is an expert on Climate Change, l think that l will take an senile old nature producer, if l have to choose.

No.  She is just following her crowd.  It's just that her crowd accepts the science, even if they don't fully understand it, while the people she is railing against don't believe in science.  But even that is not universal.  There's a lot of progress being made quietly, behind the scenes.  tRUMP and the wingnuts aren't the dominant force they think they are.

I note:  there is a lot of talk that Mueller will soon wrap up his report and present it to the DOJ.  I also note that the Trump kids have all decided to leave the country.  Now, if I believed in conspiracy theories, I would think the two events were connected.

Even if one doesn't believe one word of climate change theory, does that justify selling drilling permits in the parking lot of Old Faithful Lodge?  Or allowing strip mining of Bears Ears National Monument?  What is this wanton destruction that this administration is pushing?

But wait until the next administration takes office:  those who have despoiled the parks are going to have to pay for the cleanup.  But don't worry, right-wingers.  Those permits were bought by corporations that will simply declare bankruptcy, letting the owners off the hook and sticking the taxpayers with the bill.

Whatever with the local politics, but there won't be a Sweden (or USA, or Australia) if we don't fix the environment.  Sitting on our hands hoping in miracles isn't the solution and this girl should be applauded for taking the initiative.

I am not against her, parse, but the brainwashing that is going on in public schools in order to wave the End is Nigh flag and win votes.

Science, lol, big difference between mass media science and finding it yourself.

Kids are funny.  They think about what their lives are going to be like in twenty and fifty years and try to be proactive.  Adults on the other hand ignore  them, worry about their tax refund and laugh because they won't even be around in 50 years.

Maybe kids have more at stake and should be more involved in long term solutions than people over 50.

In Australia they are getting end is nigh propaganda, so when they reach 18, they will vote, (Labour) since they don't want to perish in some global disaster when they reach their 30's.

The science is poor to unsubstantiated, and no information about the end is nigh being a gooseegg isn't covered.

Scientific views on creation and religious views are covered in primary and onwards, so should be the same with this.

Perhaps provide an example of that.

I can, but since l now consider this subject to be religious based, and l am getting over food poisioning, l chouldn't be bothered.

Point is if someone wants to believe in a mass media report that the end is nigh in 13 years, and another teacher doesn't, then both views need to be aired.

We don't knock religion being taught about creation, eventhough the scientific view seems more, well it works better, same applies here.

Both sides need to be addressed, rather than ramming the fear based one down a childs throat, for a quick vote in a few years time.

Sure we dont knock it happening in particular locations at particular times when its not particularly obstructive to real education but we surely don't allow it to be taught in real public educational settings.

Perhaps someone should tell her what her saviors in the government need to fix the problem?  Then explain why the very worst transgressors aren't to pay a dime or even be restricted while her nation and a few others are supposed to foot the entire bill?  My issue with climate change as an idol to be worshipped isn't the science ( i am not qualified to judge it) nor the morality but the sheer inequity of how the fearless warriors for the environment want to solve the problem.  When India and China get on board and begin to put their money where their mouths are, we can talk.  Until then, I think the earth can survive a few more decades.  The climate is changing but even if someone presents proof that it must be anthropomorphic in nature, that hardly means a single group of people are responsible or capable of making sufficient change.  Those who are in a panic might want to write them a check...

India and China are on board.  It's only a start but at least they're in the game.  The only one that's pulled out before kickoff is your hero Trump, who, in accordance with his political stance, decided that the Paris Agreement was damaging to Americans and it's businesses.  This is a guy that's put American financial interests above the environment of the planet and for the same specific financial interests decided to pull out of all nuclear discussions (Russia and Iran) and aid in the increase and distribution of them to a murderous regime (SA).  China and the US alone contribute to more than 40% of green gas emissions and should be doing more than others to restrict industry pollution.  It's only logical, but now that Trump's pulled out how serious are China going to be in abiding by the Paris targets?

If this guy stays in power another term he's going to ruin the world.
