A British zoo has been criticised for offering visitors the opportunity to test their strength against one of the planet's toughest mammals.

Visitors to Dartmoor Zoo are being invited to pay £15 to play tug of war against a tiger.

Children as young as eight are able to take part in the challenge, which the zoo claims helps the animals keep in shape.

The move has been condemned as cruel by animal rights campaigners.
