When Atheist argue that they do not want religion , what do they think they will get ?

Why does religion have to be replaced? Why not just learn how things really work instead of making up stuff?

Who are you, and what authority do you have to determine what a 'serious' religion is?

I think all the serious religions can trace their origins back to one source.

Really? All serious religions? I think you might have a difficult time explaining away the meso-American religions. Or those of the Philippines. Or Indonesia...

I'm pretty sure they were "serious".

Do you fear an atheist viewpoint so much because of your upbringing?

Not atheism psyche. Totalitarianism.

I didn't say anything about atheism. The point is that secularists did the heavy lifting of freeing us from religious totalitarianism in the past. But memories are short.

Now some secularists are hard at work enslaving us to something new. Secular Totalitarianism.

I see atheism as just another form of religion.

See this right here is where it starts to go wrong.

The definition of atheism has been posted so many times on these boards that's it's not funny, so I'm not re-posting it.

Atheism is the rejection of god claims, due to insufficient evidence. Period. There are no tenets, precepts, or rules to being an atheist OTHER than the rejection of god claims. It has nothing to due with the Big Bang Theory, Evolution, or abiogenesis.

Yet even though corrected a hundred thousand times, the Theists continue to drag this dead horse to the starting line. It makes me wonder if this type of theist is truly that ignorant, or whether they are being knowingly deceitful in presenting this.

Remember there have never actually been a communist country. Not even the USSR claimed to be communist. They claimed they were working towards communism, not that they actually achieved it. So if no one have done it, how can you make a claim like that ?

Because most of the people that decry the evils of communism don'e even know what it is, hence ella conflating it with totalitarianism or others calling it socialism.

They have a hard time understanding that for the vast majority of atheists, it just means that religion has no place in our lives, much the same way they never give thought to the greek or aztec pantheons.

But now this very same secular mindset is vehemently attempting to sell us all into a new type of bondage. Slavery to something at least as bad if not worse (because of who is doing it); secular totalitarianism.

That 'very same secular mindset' are the atheists you just referred to.

You might be fooling yourself will, but not others.

Sorry psyche, read it again.

That 'very same secular mindset' is the same mindset that did the unimaginable hard work of putting an end to the religious totalitarianism of past ages. Some of these secularists that accomplished its removal from life even burned at the stake for what they did. For freeing us from the totalitarianism the church imposed on us.

Now there are secularists with a similar mindset, the mindset to get things done, the mindset to establish something. To take care of business. But what that'll be is gonna be just as terrible as before. Or worse.

Some of these secularists are atheists but I don't think one has to be an atheist to be a secularist. But I do believe that this new thing, secular totalitarianism is an offshoot of atheism.

I'm not afraid of atheism nor atheists. Everybody in my opinion is free to believe whatever they want but when an attempt is made to establish totalitarianism, no matter what kind, religious or secular, I take notice.

Atheists are teddy bears compared to totalitarianists.

According to your comment it is.

How many times do I have to quote your own words? You said 'this very same mindset' straight after mentioning how atheism has brought freedom of religion to the world. You referred to both as one and the same.

Its your words I'm questioning Will. Are you able to provide a straight answer?

The mindset is one of implementation. Nothing else. And that the implementators are of the same mindset. Non-religious. Secular.

First the secular mindset freed us. Now it aims to enslave. Like in Venezuela.

Did atheism have anything to do with the advent of secularism? Of course it did.

What are you afraid of psyche? That atheism dressed up as secularism may be doing more harm than good? Like it is in Cuba and North Korea?

And now, this movement towards secular totalitarianism is spreading throughout the United States of America. As well as the rest of the world.

Non religious tends to be also know as atheist quite often.

However, you made no distinction and ran on after a comment about atheists directly.

See, your conflating again. Do you know what what your even trying to accomplish here Will?

Atheism is not doing harm there or anywhere. Your terribly confused.

Freedom from religion is the best way forward. I hope that you are correct, and facts are finally removing myths from the indoctrinated. It's only going to make the world a better place to grow up and let imaginary friends leave.

Is secular totalitarianism real?

Is secular totalitarianism any different than the totalitarianism of religion?

Does secular totalitarianism exist in countries like Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela?

Are there people trying to establish secular totalitarianism in the countries of the rest of the world?

I'm not discussing the meannng of tolitarianism, I'm asking how you equated such to atheism as per your quotes that I have posted.

Are you going to explain that?

I didn't equate secularism to atheism. They're not the same. However, I doubt there would be such a thing as secularism withput atheism being thought of first.

It sure sounded like you did to me.

Atheism isn't thought of, it's a default position. We have to ingrain ideas of God and rely on appeals to authority to indoctrinate the idea of God into others. Atheism is reversion to a natural state.

Like I said, sometimes people hear or read what they want.

The only authority with any position in my life is the sovereignty of my free will.

And when it comes to the doing of God's will, I'm the only one responsible for not ending up in default.

You're quite plainly doing Wills will and pretending God is in the mix, but you're only convincing yourself.

Goodness me, that brings back some memories, of a departed old relative who would frequently say, "they're like the poor, they're always with us", usually in reference to some unwanted presence that was a nuisance or a burden. Actually  made me a little emotional, that was the only person I ever recall using that expression.
