Preceding 1st + Last letters come in New Word

Hello everyone,

This is a game I've been enjoying playing for years. It can be challenging at times but we always end up learning something new in English by playing it.

You can obviously use any search engine you like, dictionaries (such as Oxford's, Cambridge's, thefreedictionary.com, wordreference.com, any online or paper dictionaries based on English). whatever can help you find the new words you need. Using such tools is encouraged here.

The words you choose as answers here must be words that can be found in English dictionaries, which includes proper nouns. English words can contain hyphens, apostrophes but no space.

The new word you're going to post must contain the first letter of the preceding word immediately followed by the last letter of the preceding word, in that order,

AND

the new word you're going to post must not start/end with either the first or the last letter of the preceding word.

Example:

Laura

-> plane

-> deeper

-> dodecahedron: NO! The preceding word started with 'd' and ended with 'r' therefore the new word must NOT start/end with 'd' or 'r'.

deeper -> chidren

-> acne

-> defleaed

-> added: NO! The preceding word started/ended with a 'd' therefore the new word must NOT start/end with a 'd'.

defleaed -> addenda

-> baas
and so on :) (remember you can use proper nouns)

YOUR TURN! :)

It's like many games: they're more difficult to explain than to play actually ^^

madder > steamroller

That's a great 'mr' word! However, the new word coming from 'madder' must not start/end with 'm' or 'r'. 'Steamroller' unfortunately ends with an 'r'...

No worries: here's how I fix that. I can apply the plural form here:

steamrollerS -> ossification
