TrumanB Posted March 23, 2019 Author #26 Share Posted March 23, 2019 Robert Aickman, I'm currently reading the translation of his collection of strange stories called "Cold hand in mine". He is very good in a more subtle manner. Are you familiar with his work? He was a British author, looks a bit underestimated.
TrumanB Posted April 9, 2019 Author #27 Share Posted April 9, 2019 I'm reading Grimscribe: His Lives and Works, by Thomas Ligotti. I'm a bit disappointed since I read that he is a true successor of H.P.Lovecraft. Maybe on the level of ideas but his style is so boring. There is no madness nor eeriness that we can find in Lovecraft, Blackwood or Eickman stories...
TrumanB Posted May 27, 2019 Author #28 Share Posted May 27, 2019 Sheridan Le Fanu, let's add him as another great classic of horror fiction. His 19th-century style resembles realistic writing but with not-so-realistic events. I'm currently reading one collection of his best stories. It's amazing. TrumanB Posted June 14, 2019 Author #29 Share Posted June 14, 2019 the two great works that I read in the past few weeks: 1. We have always lived in the castle by Shirley Jackson - a great psychological horror about the pathological relationship between two sisters 2. Wine-dark sea, Robert Aickman a great metaphysical story, just started a collection of stories by this author.

TrumanB Posted July 19, 2019 Author #31 Share Posted July 19, 2019 https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/219601.The_Tenant Another great work of horror fiction, Tenant by Roland Topor. Polanski made a successful film based on it. Here we have a very confused guy and paradoxical ending.

Jenn8779 Posted August 26, 2019 #37 Share Posted August 26, 2019 Great modern day author I've stumbled across is Amy Cross. She is a prolific author who self publishes, mostly ebooks on Amazon. Her Dark Series is fabulous but everything I've read from her has been worth the read
