Minimalists Posted March 18, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2019 That's the exact reason you do not walk or stand on graves....Never heard of it happening in the modern day but a lot of older graves 1600 , 1700 and 1800's are subject to collapse if stood on. 3

Not likely it will be I don't think...But if she fell in up to her neck I would be curious as too how old the grave was she fell in.....Because there was obviously no vault used because the top of a vault is only like 2 feet below the ground. Another thing is they did not begin using vaults until around 1956 so I would surmise the grave she fell into was prior to 1956. 'Walt' E. Kurtz Posted March 18, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2019 Is she suing her dead parents?
Tatetopa Posted March 19, 2019 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2019 One might consider that a definitive message. I would mend my ways real quickly and not go about suing people and being a general nuisance. I hope this doesn't result in some new rubber bumpers on all the corners, child safe gravestone legislation.

The sinkhole was caused by how an adjacent recent grave was filled in recently.

freetoroam Posted March 19, 2019 #16 Share Posted March 19, 2019 Over time graves can collapse,at the cemetary where many of my ancestors are, there are collapsed graves. They have been neglected over the few hundred years . In this case we are not talking about hundreds of years, it was her parents grave. Quote It is believed that the sinkhole opened up due to an issue with how an adjacent grave was filled in. Yes the cemetary are to blame. Pretty horendous seeing your parents resting place collapse beneath your feet. Obviously the adjacent grave was not filled in as much as it should have been. Quote The St. Charles Resurrection Cemetery has since been sued for a whopping $5 million. Wow! Hmm, thats a wopper. I could handle a couple of broken ribs and a dip in with my forefathers for that.
