Flat Earthers are planning a trip to Antarctica

and what exactly will it accomplish?  existence of Antarctica does not prove the earth is round. they need to go up 100k feet and see actual earth, and it's curvature.  a trip to anywhere on a ship wont prove or disprove anything.

Of course it will. Any navigation using a map based on a globe will prove that map to be valid and a flat-plane one to be useless.

Yes, the maps are, but the earth is a globe. Maps are projections of the globe onto a flat surface. An east-west journey of 30deg of longitude is a lot longer on the equator than it is on the arctic circle.

lol, yes i know,  earth is not flat,  but FE guys will not find your words credible,  just like trip to arctic wont prove anything to them. which is exactly what is argued here, not what shape the earth is

Unless they scour the whole arctic continent while streaming one continuous video feed, some FE'r somewhere will point out the holes in your round Earth theory.

They didn't go far enough inland, they used a fish eye lens or you can just call them a "shill" and dismiss all the evidence. FE is as much theory as it is cognitive dissonance. I still find it fascinating how they incorporate the FE model in to our current understanding of physics and the Universe.

I'm curious about that so I looked it up. Forbes:

Quote

Comparing religious beliefs, YouGov found that Democrats are slightly less likely to believe the Earth is round than Republicans (83 versus 89 percent, respectively). This, perhaps, could be an overprint of younger generations more likely to lean Democratic and older generations more likely to lean Republican. While YouGov didn't find a significant variation in flat Earth beliefs geographically, they did find a significant variation based on income level.

The survey found that those with an income less than $40,000 (79%) are much less likely to believe the world is round compared to those with an income over $80,000 (92%).

Education is important. When was this done?

The difference being liberal socialists got their "illusions" to be the basic employment standards we all enjoy: an eight-hour day, a forty-hour week, child labor laws, paid vacations and sick time, health care coverage, anti-monopoly legislation and workers comp. Each one of those was a struggle against greedy capitalist robber-barons who were happy to abuse the literal life out of their employees -- and still are, in many cases.

Think about that next time you slag off socialists and liberals, or just admit to your hypocrisy.

Honestly a bit surprised for two metrics, one that the phenomena is mostly spawned and spread through social media. Which skews it towards the younger generation.

On the other hand its a very fundamentalist Christian belief so it'd tend to skew older.

Though I suppose that balances out.

I would have to go back and find the link. Just copy the the first sentence and paste it in to Google. I was tired of typing after making the "Christchurch - Aftermath" OP so every post after that one is crap lol

The Christian angle of FE is one I had not heard of until I started looking in to it. The Bible seems to strongly in favor a flat Earth, talking about the "firmament" dome separating the waters above and below (space is really made of water,) it describes the Earth as "God's footstool".

Fantastic for them. While they are there, please leave flowers for my mom at both south poles. Her ashes are scattered at both.

Flat Earth enthusiasts maintain that they can prove that the Earth is flat by finding 'the edge of the world'.

Yes, no doubt they plan to reach the Mountains of Madness at the edge of the world and climb over them to get to heaven.
