But I would challenge you to "re-visit" yourself.

You are far more precious than I think you can even imagine.

Beliefs are certainly powerful.

Beliefs are a tool. Not an end, but a means to an end. A belief can create a fantastic life, or lead you to a living hell.

We are highly "sensitive" creatures.

Somehow, we think that other people's opinion of us is actually true.

And it messes with us.

The "teams" are doing just that. Seeking their own confirmation.

Let's face it. For who knows how many 1000's of years these debates have been going on, not one single person on this planet know if god exist are not.

What if they want to believe that people don't believe what they want to believe ? Or something ?

Sometimes it's even that they want to be all hopped up on rage.

Like with the "conspiracy porn" types.

It doesn't matter if anyone introduces facts. They just bounce right off.

So it's kinda futile.

Especially with these "discussions" that can be summed up with "your group is bad, no yours is."

Bitterness? I'm just speaking the truth.  You just don't like it.

What truth do you ever speak. You sit there and quote passages from a collection of allegories into colourful memes when it's far easier just paste the text. If your purpose is to remove any trace of pith, congratulations. Evidently, said memes originate from the pithed off.

But, the real puzzle is why you take such an interest, and place such importance on, this collection of allegories. That this collection is allegorical is either it's strength or it's weakness - it's a matter of perspective viewed through a spectrum of optimism.

It's also curious that you are so obsessed with diagnosing God as a psychopath, a narcissist and evil. If there isn't a God then what is your purpose? Just as much could be achieved by discussing whether, or not, Thanos is evil or just a galactic greenie.

If we're to accept that eminent atheist Hawking's assertion that there is no free will, then what is evil other than a predictable reaction?

Pretty much. Either its the rage, are they only seek to further reinforce their own beliefs.

That whole, "I need something to hate."

Or they're just trolling a perceived arch-nemesis group, like this "discussion" was meant to.

You're unscientific...no we're not...you are...no we're not...you are....

Plus if someone doesn't believe in god, how can they blame god for anything?

On the flip side of this. If someone has some mystical experience, what right do they have to claim that their model of reality is the correct one?

Common decency also involves suspension of judgement.

Nonsense. Take the practise of headhunting as an example. It's not wrong to recognise that it's a barbaric and outdated tradition of no use to anyone.

We probably don't hear much about the prophet being an alleged pedophile, because people don't want to invite retaliation from extremists,

Yes, that's a big reason its given a wide berth. Being bullied into doing so by religion. Not that much has changed there over the last century has it.

That's not a good reason to pretend it never happened though.

Extremists take such offence because they know its wrong, don't want to believe it, and don't want to he seen as worshipping a much less than perfect person.

but there seems no good reason to believe anything was happening that was outside the bounds of the cultural norms of the time.

That's my point. It's just man's flaws at play. I can't see divine intervention or some sort of spiritual awakening providing and advantage over another. He was in the right place at the right time. Not touched by God.

I can't see how someone who is supposed to have had this enlightened experience can still be subject to ancient deviant practises. The very idea of enlightenment is well above that low. In short l, that's no God.

You don't seem to be acknowledging the god factor here, and blaming his weakness and flaws on mankind. That's effectively refuting your own idea of mystic advantages.

It seems like it was a biological imperative of the times, that girls be married at puberty, and commence to have children, to maintain the population of the tribe, because life expectancy was unreliable, and maximising births was advantageous to survival of the group. I would be pretty confident this would have applied amongst your own ancestors, and had it not, you would not be around to quibble about something you are only using as a device to try and discredit all religions or all mystics with. Your neediness knows no bounds.

No, that's just a steaming pile of crap Walker left behind him. Go ahead and offer some figures to prove the species was in any danger of going extinct. Even controversial theories out the last human bottleneck at 70,000 years ago, when the population was perhaps reduced to 10, 000 to 30,000 individuals, but the last real confirmed bottleneck that threatened the species was about 2 million years ago.

So that excuse just doesn't fly. Its not true.

You are certainly more conceited, wolfie. What is considered de rigeur today, in the ancient past might have been considered deadly error. And vice-versa. You are "getting off" on your sense of "moral superiority". That has been, an error, in all ages. It is the ego talking, nothing more. The rules of society are very fluid, as time goes by.

Time doesnt excuse bad actions or erase them. In a thousand years, Charles Manson and Martin Bryant will still be disgraceful pathetic weak and cowardly monsters. Regular massacres don't excuse their actions.
