Still Waters Posted April 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2019 The research team set out to examine the myth of the 'sugar rush': can sugar really put you in a better mood? Sugar does not improve mood and it can make people less alert and more tired after its consumption -- according to a new study by the University of Warwick, Humboldt University of Berlin, and Lancaster University. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/04/190404104345.htm 3

HandsomeGorilla Posted April 5, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2019 That's like saying because a car can go 100mph, then there's no such thing as 65mph. It's pretty absurd logic. The consumption of food, especially sugar, causes a dopamine response in your brain. Now, a dopamine response CAN most certainly effect one's mood or energy levels. Food - again, especially sugar - can have drug like effects, albeit much less pronounced than... Drugs. Now a drug addict with burned out receptors isn't going to respond as dramatically as someone who is more sensitive, so just because there's no pronounced effect doesn't mean that nothing's happening. I hope whoever funded this study gets their damn money back.

There are so many different forms of dopamine hits and so much sugar in diets now, I'm surprised most people still have functioning receptors by their teens.
