I'm sure plenty of foreign intelligence agencies would agree that it's very handy. I'm also certain the Secret Service would not.

Well that is why I suggest one totally owned by the secret service.  Housing and meeting space, more than the white house has.

you need to drop the illusion that you can eradicate corruption, you can not, and that is  the reality of this world, corruption ALWAYS existed and always will, all we can do is manage it.  and not let it grow into a monster.

i really do not care about trump hotels, and whatever corruption you think happening there, i care more about corrupt courts , and corrupt doctors and lawyers scamming billions from tax payers pool. and making insurance higher for everyone.

Why?  Corruption is corruption and theft is theft.  You only care when it is you they are taking from?  Are you talking about the Medicaid case that is going on right now?  How is it different than Trump University?

The thing with Trump is that it is above board.  I wouldn't worry about someone influencing him with money.  If I were these other governments, I'd worry about how Trump will influence them.  Hilary's Pay-to-Play was on the sly.  She was selling herself like a harlot.  What is really amazing is that the TDS is so severe that after two years, people are still concerned that some government has Trump wrapped around their finger.

This is how it was done in the past: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_visits_to_the_United_States

What is wrong with it?

Doesn't matter RF, the optics on this are really bad. Even Trump supporters must see that.

I agree.  It's stupid to shoot yourself in the foot when damned near the whole world is trying to shoot you in the head.

It isn't above the board. If you could provide tax returns or open the books it would be above board.

Hmm.. interesting.

Has there EVER been a situation before whereby the President is also a major businessman ?

I don't think any American president has been a billionaire upon taking office.  With his holdings being as diverse and global, it was always going to be a weak point for him.  The typical path for new presidents is to put their holdings in a blind trust that's managed by others.  He handed off the business to his sons and my guess is that they are making the decisions.  He's a little busy with other issues just now.  Of course, the red meat crowd who will be making the sign of the evil eye and spitting on the ground 20 years after he's dead will never accept his innocence on any level.  I guess they'll bloody well have to suck it up and move on - kind of like 50% of us did during 8 long years of Obama.

Oh, I get it now.  It's the we need the tax returns mantra.  And what is that going to give you?  This is a false flag.  Do you really think that if someone is paying off Trump, that he would put it on his taxes?

Trump could probably run 10 countries and his empire at the same time.  He loves the challenge.  He thrives on it.

Kinda hard to be above board when all the finances are kept hidden.  We already know that Trump is getting paid off.  What they are wanting the tax records for is to see if he was stupid enough not to claim it.

Mr President there is legislation we, our corporation / country, think would be good for us, we mean the US. But before we get into detail, I must say how pleasant our team's stay was in the Trump Hotel for the last week, it was an absolute pleasure to pay the £30k bill. Now back to business...."

Not saying a govt official would could be swayed, but it will always look bad.

Yeah, it does look dodgy.  BTW, when the Clinton Foundation was receiving billions from foreign governments while HRC was our SecState, did you have a problem with how that looked?  I'm not equivocating.  Wrong is wrong, it's just that these days we only ever seem to hear about the wrong done by one side of the political spectrum.  Do you ever wonder why that would be?  Serious, educated people can't really believe that only one group of politicians are always the ones breaking the rules and laws, what?

yes, and so do you,  and i can prove it,

you would not think twice if you hear  a gang members stole drugs or money from other gang.  but i bet when you hear a scammer stole every penny from seniors, and they are getting evicted due to none payments. it would probably make your blood boil in this case,  yet you'd feel nothing like that in first case.

You know, you're probably correct.  I know I can't imagine any other politician or leader, even Reagan, who could return their fire and keep his support for as long as he has, despite the CONSTANT incoming.  I think the Progs are down to one last hope.  Their propaganda arm is trying to make the noise so loud that his supporters will abandon him just to get some peace and quiet :w00t:   NEVAH GONNA HAPPEN

Oh?  We already know it?  Sick!  The reason he doesn't want to reveal his taxes is that it makes the Progs squeal.  Then when he's worked them up to a lather, will release them and they'll be yet another nothing burger and leave them with more egg on their face.

Neither of those is me.  But I would indeed be angered.  I possess empathy and feel anger when the weak and helpless are preyed upon.  Not so much when thieves steal from each other.  You on the other hand seem to only care when it directly affects you or your pocketbook.  I'm thinking that's why we are on different sides on so many issues.

At this point, they probably could reveal that he hasn't paid taxes for decades and has been laundering money for the Russians and it wouldn't even phase his supporters.  It's been made pretty clear that they can stomach corruption and immorality as long as it furthers their private agendas.

This thread is turning into proof of that.

yes, i said repeatedly here, that i care most about things that affect me and things i can change,   i see little reason to worry myself with things that do not affect me or things i can not control,  i may have an opinion, or strong opinion about other things, but that is about it.   and i believe most people are just like that regardless of what they say on internet forums

So if you think what is happening is happening, don't you think the IRS would come down on Trump?  Hello?  No doubt that it is possible that he is employing some creative techniques but he isn't doing anything differently than every other billionaire is doing.  Yeah, I think he at one time took a huge capital gains loss that allowed him to not pay taxes for a decade.  Perfectly legitimate.  The reason it doesn't phase his supporters is because there is nothing there there.  No proof, only false accusations.  There is corruption but it isn't associated with Trump.

He couldn't even run a casino. A business where customers literally give their money away to the owners.

There's no way you could possibly truly believe what you've just said. It sounds like a child boasting about how amazing his dad is. Absolute cult material.

No one could run 10 countries anywhere except into the ground. Especially not someone who spends half the day watching TV.

Wow!  I absolutely believe what I said.  It’s that you can’t comprehend it and therefore, do not understand the meaning.  It might be a bit of boasting but hardly at the cult level.  It is you and those like you that gives Trump the cult status.  You do realize that Trump running 10 countries is a figure of speech, recognizing his management abilities.  You do also realize that a mogul such as Trump is very diversified.  Not everything is successful.  Customers are not forced to go into a casino.  There are those that love the challenge of beating the house.  That is the commodity that casinos provide.  Cluelessness – Priceless!  Such an ironic avatar.

Wait.. what... "paid off" ? You "know" that President Trump is being "paid off".

Can  you explain precisely what you mean by that ?

It’s a symptom of TDS.  When one is afflicted, they don’t know what they mean.

You claim it's a figure of speech a couple of sentences after you admit you 'absolutely believe' what you said. You are slowly eroding what little credibility you have left.

Dress it up any way you want, Trump managed to bankrupt one of the most difficult to bankrupt businesses there ever has been. He's pretty much doing the same with the US.

But we're getting off topic. The topic is corruption, and apparently how some people are okay with their politicians being bribed, as long as they're Red. I honestly thought all would be outraged by this when I posted it - it's not a partisan issue, really. How horribly naive of me.

I mean didn't you guys apparently vote for him to 'drain the swamp'? He just gave the alligators ****ing viagra.

It's so weird. Over here we have no trouble turning on David Cameron, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown or Theresa May when they completely mess up or are simply inadequate, but in the US it's almost as if politicians and their parties have a religious-like following - especially, but not exclusively, on the right. Trump really could shoot someone on 5th avenue and still have a team of online useful idiots defending him with their last breath.

Because everyone is constantly provided with misleading facts and statistics from whatever side they agree with at the start. Politicians have mastered the art of spin and people are falling for it more and more these days instead of less and less. There isn't a politician in office I would defend if evidence of a crime was presented. I lean left, but democrats and republican as titles mean very little to me.
