I'm thinking that we are getting close to the event/s that will mark the moment when the downfall begins for Donald.  If you disagree that is about to happen ... well, you're no fun and maybe this thread isn't the one for you..  :D

Anyway, what do you think will be the last straw, the one that marks when it all began to go horribly, legally, presidency-ending wrong?

  • The release of the redacted (or maybe unredacted) Mueller Report?
  • An impeachment / indictment beginning on obstruction of justice?
  • Ditto ...  on fraud / misuse of funds (inauguration, tax or otherwise?)?
  • Ditto ...  on something else (there's plenty to pick from)?

or, and here's my picks (both of which are rather surprising to me)

  • His big sister's resignation as a Circuit Judge, apparently to avoid prosecution? (Will another prosecution grow out of this?) OR
  • His tax returns content when they are inevitably released...

PS - I actually hate gambling, so I will not be accepting any money.  :D

I will however gleefully accept kudos if/when I'm shown to be right.  (And relief when your nightmare ends and we can go back to watching Trumpless news...)

The betting is basically saying the chances of Trump being bundled out this term, is about 15% tops. That is quite a change from around a year or so ago, when the assessment hovered around 50%. I know someone who hates Trump, and he was supremely confident the axe was about to fall, about 55 times. Watched pots never boil !

All I can say is don’t believe the hype, journalism standards are once again akin to the sensational yellow journalism of the early 20th century.  I’ll play though, zero percent chance on impeachment, nothing has stuck to him, the fact that the narrative has been spun back to him releasing his tax returns should be a sign how desperate the media is becoming to save face.

edit: one ruble on the line!

My bet is that he will finish off this term in style and be reelected.  His son Donald Jr. may even succeed him because now only a Trump can run America.  A possible difficulty down the road might be when the masses of people with guns but no health care or jobs have to decide between buying food or ammo..  But I am sure in the end they will do the right thing.  If not, by then we will certainly have an adequate military police force to maintain order.

all these people so desperately eager to see the Downfall of the Tyrant(TM)*, even now, with just a year and a half or so to go of the Trumpian Reich, do make me smile sardonically. Keep hoping comrades, never let go of that flame of hope!

* possibly these least effective tyrant ever, even though he's a literal Nazi ((C) some people here)

There's a good market for 46+:

Donald Trump Jr

Ivanka Trump

Kanye West

Kelsey Grammer

There will be no last straw. He will finish out this term and his next(barring a stroke or heart attack or choking to death on a big mac). America has been broken for a very long time and it's starting to show. We are too divided and too many care too little about others for there to be any real hope of advancement.

The last straw will be when Rachel Maddow is dragged of her set by the women in white coats, because she can’t stop laughing.

The Progs and MSM will fold long before Trump does.  He has been pushing their buttons since the beginning.  Tic-toc, tic-toc.  Their last straw will be his reelection.  At that point the Old Guard and the Young Turks will be at each other's throats and Socialism will collapse (it won't completely disappear).  Trump will have fulfilled on another campaign promise of draining the swamp.  Trump has already gotten them to a point that they are ready to pop with TDS.  The 8 referrals Nunes has submitted to the AG will lead to widespread corruption.  And as more and more people like Candice Owens step forward, the American people will find their voice and end tyranny.  Our system will prove that it works.  The economy will continue to get stronger.  People will have real healthcare.  And the border will be protected.  And Trump will be the one that gives this country a chance, but 8 years is enough of anybody.  He will have put the forgotten American back into the forefront and kicked elitism to the curb.

Out of curiosity do you really think what he's doing is draining the swamp?

I forgot to add one (and there are obviously more), but the Wikileaks thing is looking *really* interesting, especially in terms of the timing of Assange's arrest just after the Mueller report has ended... Cough.

More to come later..

How can anyone still believe that a scandal is going to take down Trump after he has already survived so many scandals that would have destroyed any other president?

The "last straw" that will destroy him is his complete flip on immigration policy, which could cost him his base in 2020.

How on earth did  the Democrats win back Congress despite the gerrymandering?  You could use that as an indication.  And to answer the question, here's a coupla hints:

1. The lazy people who didn't vote last time as they didn't like either candidate are getting off their backsides

2. Even if some people are still completely and unshakably enamoured with their super-hero, there comes a point when the average or low-level Trump supporter says 'enough'...

Maybe.  But somehow I think his base (which seems to me has shrunk somewhat) will just believe his spin, even if the truth is patently obvious.

But it isn't up to me, some ignorant outside upstart - if you guys want him, keep him...  :D

Trump's chronic dishonesty and scorn for the law is bound to catch up with him, and I'll bet the farm that the SDNY probe looking into his financial dealings and alleged criminal misconduct will ultimately lead to his downfall.

Gerrymandering does go both ways and in PA for example, the PA supreme court ruled that the district map was unfairly gerrymandered to benefit Republicans and required it to be redrawn.  The PA governor is a Democrat and refused all maps the PA legislature drew, who is majority Republican, and depending on who you asked illegally or legally had the PA supreme court draw the district map, the PA supreme court is majority Democrat.

The approved PA supreme court map pretty heavily favored the Democrats and was decided on a few months before the mid term election.  The sudden change of quite a few districts did cause quite a few Republicans who normally would of won to lose.

With the census coming up again the district map will get redrawn yet again but this time by the PA legislature.

Of course it does.  But you could only find one example favoring Democrats?  :D  Look, I'm not saying it doesn't apply to both sides, but the Dem's are clearly not as good at it...

Thing is, electoral boundaries should not be done by anyone except by an Electoral Commission that has non-partisan members, or at least equal representation.  And if one side gets significantly more actual votes than the side that wins.... well, I think you have a problem.

I dont think anything can or will as long as Mitch McConnell is running the senate. The GOP has shown themselves to be loyal to one thing only :power. I made this joke in another thread but sadly its not really a joke, it would genuinely take video shot from multiple angles of Trump eating white babies for the GOP to do anything that would jeopardize their current hold on power. And yes they would most definitely have to be white babies for McConnell et al to not find a way to justify it as Trump helping reduce child poverty.
