Still Waters Posted April 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2019 Mobile phone detectors are to be used by police to find drivers using devices at the wheel. The Thames Valley and Hampshire forces are rolling out the technology to show when motorists are using their phones. A sign will flash at the driver telling them to stop using their mobile - but the detectors cannot tell if it is a driver or passenger using the phone. The technology will not be used as an "enforcement tool", the forces said, but was instead aimed at educating motorists and identifying offending "hotspots". https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-47896472

State of modern Europe in one sentence. One can replace "Scotland" above with my country Finland or Norway or Germany or Lithuania or Russia and it makes little difference. As if we Europeans can't produce high tech solutions ourselves. (Where are you GHCQ when needed, other than making cyber attacks on your own ally Belgium?) Or would want more daily Big Brother to our lives. As in: who got to vote on introduction of that new technology? And finally: did this farce of an organisation called "Police Scotland" (that's not even proper English language...) do a thorough technical inspection for hidden backdoors and root access? If yes or not, did the native Scottish taxpayers got to know that and any possible results? Surely only Soviet-North-Korea-death-camp level of governance would hide something as relevant as that from common man on the street, right? Aren't we living in a digital age with digital rights?
