Popular Post Commander CMG Posted April 23, 2019 Popular Post #1 Share Posted April 23, 2019 For anyone that knows and misses Sakari, please find an update below on his fight with Cancer. Quote I am not sure if I updated on isntagram.....so, here you go. I am sorry. I am mainly only on Facebook when it comes to social media, and never really on here anymore. And, I do think about some of you guys here, and keep forgetting to come back and let you know. Had a PET scan May 8th, or around there. 2 Tuesdays ago. I am just going to quote the conversation. Doctor: Hello Robert, how are you doing? Me: I don't know, you tell me Doctor: I have the results of the scan, and they look good. Me: Awesome, thank you so much Doctor: I need to tell you, if you see the results, there is a small dark spot on your liver. However, we think it is just a radiation build up, from the radiation they give you for the PET scan. That is what it appears to look like. And, the radiologist agrees. Me: How confident are you that is all that it is? Doctor: Very confident. Me: Awesome, when is the next scan? Doctor: We will go 4 months this time. See you Tuesday. So, that was it. That stupid dark spot has me freaked out, but he seemed confident. I still, and always will, have treatments of Keytruda every 3 weeks. I see the Doctor every 6 weeks, although he is there when I get treatments. He said no reason for him to see me that often, as everything is going well. He says I am "boring". So, I am 14 months into treatment, with a Cancer that has statistics of "50% chance of living 5 more years on Keytruda treatments", and I have one side effect, and zero tumors. The side effect is dry mouth, and I can live with that. There is a very promising clinical trial going on. You may have read about it, if not please google it. A vaccine. It worked on 97% of mice that were than given Melanoma, and either breast or lung cancer. They are now trying it on 15 people with Lymphoma. There are a lot of others being worked on. So, hoping something happens there. Lastly, I have a cancer friend in New Zealand who had stage 4 melanoma3 years ago. 27 tumors, 7 in his brain. All of his tumors are gone, and he stopped treatment 6 months ago. Same treatment I am on. So, this **** seems to be working on some people. He gets scans still every 3 months. On the other side, a guy where I am getting treatment had to be taken off of keytruda after 2 years. It started to make his immune system attack his liver.z Not going to lie, this is a total mind ****, and I do take anxiety meds at night. I am not losing my mind, or anything like that. It is just impossible not to think about "cancer" every minute of my waking hours. I am functioning just fine, and look perfectly fine, and feel healthy. I am staying positive, but it is hard to do. I am going on my second "bucket list" ride June 1st. Pulling the trailer (with my motorcycle) to Mount Rushmore, and camping there 4 days. We also adopted / saved our second Wolf Dog in December. Anyway, thanks for asking about me, and my apologies for not coming in and updating. I guess unexplained mysteries are not so interesting to me anymore. You guys are though. My next scan is in 4 months, so around August `15th. Hope all is well with you all. 10

Earl.Of.Trumps Posted April 23, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2019 Pulling for ya, cancer brother. I met Sakari in here right when I finished cancer treatment and I was awaiting to see if the cancer had been eradicated. We talked about it some, as he had his cancer back then, too. That was around 7-8 years ago. Once you've had cancer you're never really "in the clear", it's always lurking, but I am so far cancer free. Just wishing the best for my bud. Thanks for the update, Iilaa'mpuul'xem 6

I see the confusion, probably a mistake on his part but it is definitely current, he got his new rescue Wolf just before Christmas last year, he sent me the photos and I have had a few updates on his treatment since. 2
Tia Posted September 30, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2019 I've known Sakari for years on here and we are friends on FB. Even for a believer like me and a skeptic like him we have the ultimate respect for each other. He has just done another beautiful road trip on his bike and I'm sure all who ever really got to know him would wish/ pray whatever your belief is for Rob and his family to stay strong. 5
Popular Post BrooklynGuy Posted November 14, 2019 Popular Post #8 Share Posted November 14, 2019 Thought some of you might like to know. I exchanged some texts with Sakari today as he is in a couple of my Fantasy Football Leagues. He is doing well, keeping busy and says hello. When I was talking to him he was at Costco shopping with his wife and said he would text me later with more info. 5
