"Visitors flocked to Waterlooville, Hampshire, for the traditional Beltain Festival.

The Celtic celebration, at Butser Ancient Farm, marks the beginning of summer.

Organisers said the event drew a sell-out crowd."

Northern Ireland not England.

I remember travelling in Northern Ireland as a kid and seeing one in a field waiting for the festival.

I think it was a Druid Festival going back thousands of years.

The festival in the OP was in England, not Ireland.

Hampshire.

Its Celtic not Druidic.

There are plenty of accounts from the Romans of Wicker men across what is today France and Britain.
