Quote

1. Mr. Trump was deep in the red even as he peddled deal-making advice

2. In multiple years, he appears to have lost more money than nearly any other individual taxpayer

3. He paid no federal income taxes for eight of the 10 years

4. He made millions posing as a corporate raider — until investors realized he never followed through

5. His interest income spiked in 1989 at $52.9 million, but the source is a mystery

Omg it's worse than I thought! He was obviously in the pay of Mikhail "Gorby" Gorbachev! So he's been a Soviet agent all this time! :horror: (and maybe was responsible for bankrupting the Soviet Union)

I think the Russian money pouring in came later.

The main takeaway from this for me is that, in a time where Trump was painting himself as super successful, he actually accounted for 1% of all losses in the country. He was literally the biggest loser in the US.

And also that point 4 seems to be highly illegal.

That was obvious without his returns.

That's the ones I want to see, and the stuff from Deutsche Bank.

Point four would be stock manipulation and it is indeed illegal. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/manipulation.asp

There's a strong pungent odor in the air. Aha! Yes the smell of desperation.

10 years out of an almost 50 year career as a businessman and they want to make a case out of it. This is too funny. Very few businessmen can span a 50 year career without failure(s).

I suppose we'd know if he released his tax returns. As it stands, all we have to go on is these 10 years where at one point he held the spot for the least successful individual in the US where by the end he was in the red to a total of $2.5 billion when adjusted for inflation, and the public knowledge that since then the only way he's been able to get substantial funding is through Russian billionaires desperate to pump their money into the US when the Ruble crashed along with money laundering banks that work for said billionaires.

This isn't just a failure. He lost over a billion working in real estate during the 80s. Also, he was carrying out stock manipulation.

In 1990 I made more money than Trump. And I was 5.

Trump just claimed on Twitter that the reason for his alleged losses were really just him committing tax fraud. He was really still a billionaire but he just didn't want the IRS to know. He then managed to get a 'Fake News' in there.

Yeah and all he did was explain how it really works. It's not tax fraud..........

Kind of blows that already discredited myth of him being a "good businessman" right out of the water huh?

I also doubt that this was an example of tax fraud. I think he simply created an excuse that amounts to tax fraud to hide his incredible failures and protect his ego.

I think there are a couple of questions I have.

  • How do we know these returns are authentic
  • If real could it be that these returns are indicative that legal loopholes and shelters were being used to pay the least amount of possible
  • Will the person that stole information belonging to the IRS be prosecuted

"Trump Fatigue" was beginning to set on the nation and the lackluster Mueller report finalized it. If you thought it was hard to make people care about corrupt book keeping before...

Particularly enjoying his claim that it's lies and fake news right after we he did those things he apparently didn't do.

All anyone had to do was read his book to find this out. This was 30 yrs ago. Everyone knew in the 80's that Trump had gone through some tough financial issues. It was public knowledge. Go to 14:00 on the audio.

One of the first things I remember Trump for was sometime in the early 90's hearing how he was a billion in the hole and made it out. It was probably the first time I grasped how much a billion dollars is and was amazed that he got out of the debt and made a billion more. When I seen that headline yesterday I immediately knew it wasn't news.

And then there's this super secret conversation he had 15 years ago. Jump to 45 seconds to hear the bombshell.

Pitching a no-hitter here EM. Is this seriously all that's left. Ammunition spent?

The Taj Mahal casino was built in 1990. It was one of the properties that was in trouble. He managed to save it and just sold it maybe 3 yrs ago. I think Trump Tower was one too. Just checked. Yes. It was built in 1979.

Do you remember when the NYT called Trump the comeback kid? He was a media darling and very tight with the Clintons in the 90's.

I'd be lying if I said I did but I do remember him as a tabloid star in a positive way. He for sure wasn't hated.
