Nuts while pregnant means smart kids

"Expectant mothers who eat nuts regularly during early pregnancy have more intelligent children, a new study suggests.

"Analysis of 2,200 women and their children over eight years found those whose mothers had eaten three or more servings a week during the first 12 weeks performed better in intelligence tests.

"Their cognitive function, attention span and working memory were all better than those whose mothers consumed little or no nuts during the first trimester."

Honestly, after reading this, I thought that was the point.

Who is surprised? Fats from nuts have amazing health benefits that are literally too numerous to mention. They should be part of any and everyone's diet if they're not allergic. Macadamia nut oil is particularly impressive, though a little pricey.

Even the lowly, inexpensive peanut, technically a legume, not a nut, has similar nutritional benefits to tree nuts, it's been found.
