Evangelicals Breaking Up With Jesus

and then

Just shows the ignorance of Christ and His message.  It's a misconception pushed to the point of propaganda that Christians are supposed to be perfect.  Only fools actually believe such things.  It's just a sop to their own consciences.  But it's okay.  He'll be along soon and we can see who actually had His ear and tried to spread His message, hmmm?

The Jesus concept worked very well, when it was in the opposition that it was made for. But then the emperor Constantine came and screwed it up, by making it the new game for the super power. Since then it's been abuse and compromise upon abuse and compromise.

Let's face it. Islam is a much better elite ideology than christianity will ever be. That's the one single thing Mohammad did right. That he was a semi jerk, and the opposite of the nice dude Jesus was, is another story.

Yea.  I was raised christian.

Upon reaching the age of critical thinking, I started to ask questions, like you do when you want to understand stuff.

When the adults in church either couldn't answer them, or skirted them, I figured... 'well, they keep stressing that all of life's answers are in this book, so I guess I'll read it."

read it, wtf!

read it again...... um... Houston, we have a problem.

Me: mom... have you ever read the bible?

Mom: yes

Me: All of it?

Mom:  well, not all of it no.

Me: You should.  By the way, I'm done going to church.

I don't think that is what it shows andthen.  In my thirties, I went back and read the Bible, then I went back again and only read what Jesus said.  It is such a small portion of the entire, but if one assumes Jesus is the son of God, then it should be the most important.  To try to live the life that Jesus teaches is difficult, one could argue too difficult for most people.  But, a follower of Christ can try and fail and keep trying.  Christians are not expected to be perfect.  That is bumper sticker fodder that Christians put on their cars.  Just forgiven the rest goes.  It is tough to be forgiven if you are not remorseful enough to genuinely and ask for forgiveness and mean it.  If one claims to be a follower of Jesus that person should try to live life as he taught .  Perfection is not required.

Question: if souls are eternal, then shouldn't the 'basic instruction' be acquired before the soul is here on earth?

I mean, you don't let someone take off in a plane, and then give them the instructions on how to fly....

Souls don't need planes to fly, as they are so light that they float in the air like goose down feathers in the wind. The souls that have the greatest pain from their earthly experiences are those that have completely forgotten the instructions. For a little earthly material pleasure they pay ten times in pain, generally.  And that is why they keep coming down here to earth, as they, generally, drink too much before coming down.

All the souls had now chosen their lives, and they went in the order of their
choice to Lachesis, who sent with them the genius whom they had severally
chosen, to be the guardian of their lives and the fulfiller of the choice: this
genius led the souls first to Clotho, and drew them within the revolution of
the spindle impelled by her hand, thus ratifying the destiny of each; and then,
when they were fastened to this, carried them to Atropos, who spun the threads
and made them irreversible, whence without turning round they passed beneath
the throne of Necessity; and when they had all passed, they marched on in a
scorching heat to the plain of Forgetfulness, which was a barren waste destitute
of trees and verdure; and then towards evening they encamped by the river of
Unmindfulness, whose water no vessel can hold; of this they were all obliged to
drink a certain quantity, and those who were not saved by wisdom drank more
than was necessary; and each one as he drank forgot all things.

The separation was inevitable.  Jesus just isn't aspirational enough.  He is always finding excuses why he can't get us a mercedes and a nice big house.  Plus he always wants you to be volunteering in a soup kitchen, and give away all your stuff.  Jesus is depressing and nobody likes him.  I mean, what is wrong with owning a nice big house and a mercedes Jesus?  Why do you hate rich people?  Are you some sort of communist?

No excuses for me, as I have an SL500 convertable, and a 3,700 sq feer house with a swimming pool, and a view lot. Plus I have, without asking for the extras, 3 rental houses, a 40 feet class A  RV, a Ford pickup truck, a Fiat station wagon, and a 1,400 cc cruising motorcycle.
