Eldorado Posted May 19, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted May 19, 2019 Kinda related news... "Over 350,000 trees have been planted along the HS2 route, including here in Buckinghamshire. "The company behind the project say they're creating a 'greeen corridor' of 7-million trees as part of preparations to build the train line. "Spots where this has happened in Bucks include Wendover Woods, Fleet Marston and down in the Colne Valley." https://www.mix96.co.uk/news/local/2873896/350000-trees-planted-by-hs2/ From last year... And all councils will continue to do this, tearing down beautiful mature trees that have been decades(hundreds of years), in the making. When people kick up a fuss about this, councils will say "Oh, but we've planted thousands of trees to replace them! (subtext: so shut up and go away)". Never mind that the new trees will be scrawny little saplings that most certainly won't get the care and attention they've been promised for three years. 2 minutes ago, Eldorado said: "The company behind the project say they're creating a 'greeen corridor' of 7-million trees as part of preparations to build the train line. 'A green corridor' ...... of TREES ..... 7 million trees lining a railway line. And what is the most popular reason given by British Rail for trains being late or cancelled? Yes: "Leaves on the line"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile in the US, some genius thinks it's a great idea to cut down thousands of acres of old trees to put in a... ...put your best guess here... a solar farm.
Susanc241 Posted May 23, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 23, 2019 (edited) Back in the 1950/60s I lived in a house that had a mature tree outside the front on the edge of the pavement. I am always gratified to see (on google street view) that it is still there all these years later though the actual area has been changed so much, new road layout, my old house long demolished etc. P.S. I live in UK. Edited May 23, 2019 by Susanc241
