"A new campaign is asking schools to pledge to go mobile phone free.

"It launched with an open letter signed by 39 education leaders including headteachers and chief executives of multi-academy trusts representing 120 schools in total.

"Describing the devices as "corrosive" the signatories agreed that "phones should not be used, seen or heard at any point, anywhere on the school site"."

I didn't find out until recently that phones were allowed in schools! I can't imagine any justification for it.

We should ban them during school time, and reverse the Zombie Apocalypse.

With a small outlay of $ it doesn't even have to be voluntary -

The greatest legal exposure from this would come after a school shooting where students couldn't make emergency calls :(

You need phones in schools in the US, it helps the students make their last calls when the whacko school kid is shooting it up...

Yeah, phones should be switched off during the lessons but no one should force the kids to switch off their phones during school break.

Luckily not an issue for us. Can't think why.

Imagine having to base decisions like this on whether or not some nutcase will shoot up the school with an assault rifle.

Imagine it being so normalised that some random internet poster immediately thinks of this as one of the problems, and isn't the least bit fazed by it.
