Eldorado Posted May 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2019 "Schools need to exchange Mozart for Stormzy as part of an "urgent transformation" of the music curriculum which would involve grime and hip-hop making their way into classrooms, a report suggests. "National charity Youth Music is calling for schools to shake up the way music is perceived and taught, following a major four-year research project. "The project found that more inclusive music-making, involving pupils’ personal music tastes as a starting point, helped improve attendance among disengaged pupils while supporting their personal and social development." +OverSword Posted May 22, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2019 Ridiculous. Let's put this into perspective. What hip-hop song that was popular 10 years ago is still listened to today? How about rock and roll? Obviously in 20 years people will still be familiar with a Beatles song or two, what about NWA? No young person even knows who they are let alone naming one of their tunes. Hip hop is very in the moment and will not endure the ages the way classical music has. And with good reason.
