+Not A Rockstar Posted June 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2019 This is a 7-8 min video done very well by Obsolete Oddity, who does artful work with historical mysteries and weird tales. I love Oddie's work and decided to share this one. What do YOU think happened? 3
darkmoonlady Posted June 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2019 Based on the timeline I think there was some kind of failure with the lighthouse and the night they were signalled by the ship they attempted to help and were lost at sea or foul play. It was a harsh and dangerous job so no reason to look to the supernatural for an answer. They were lost to the sea regardless but accident is more plausible.
+susieice Posted June 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2019 (edited) Hi Rockstar. I remember this lighthouse well. Here's a link to a previous thread we had on this. We discussed the daily log found on the island in pretty good depth. It includes the reports that were filed when this happened. Joseph Moore, who inspected the lighthouse shortly afterwards found nothing untoward. 11 years later, a poem by WW Gibson embellished the story, adding in knocked over chairs and uneaten meals. Then, in 1965, paranormal author Vincent Gaddis wrote the book Invisible Horizons where he embellished even further, adding the log book entries. He claimed to have used a book called True Strange Stories by Ernest Fallon as a source. A recent investigation reveals Fallon as the pen name for John Spivak, who turned to pulpy fiction in order to fund his burgeoning writing career. Oniomancer Posted June 25, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2019 The poem also adds the 3 huge birds mentioned in later stories. Read one such in a book of "true" spooky stories I got when I was a kid. 1
