Ummm, okay.  I know where you're coming from but really don't see where our media is trying to turn us into communist's.  You're exaggerating.

Regardless this is not even close to the same situation.  The Chinese media are spreading this narrative to justify a future crackdown on the Hong Kong protests that will have the full support and sympathy of the mainland proletariat.

if you can't see it then the media already has you fooled.  It isn't an exaggeration by any means nor a conspiracy theory.

The media does the exact same thing, except they use groups like ANTIFA, PETA,ACORN Planned Parenthood, and now law enforcement agencies like the FBI  and the TSA and on occasion the EPA.  The socialists/communists that have taken over the democrat party use the media to pipe their music and then before you know it the media is covering reports of how ANTIFA and the like are doing a great job at protesting, or agencies are doing a great job at their job because it suits their narrative and they managed to corrupt those agencies an that is there justification method.  An when we push back against the same socialists and communists here in America, we are labeled terrorists, deplorables, racists, homophobes and etc. Police try to stop riots caused by the left, and all of a sudden  they get orders to not intercede or they get to do their job and get lambasted by the media for stopping said riots that they label " protests " .

The violence may be at a different level and that is really the only difference for now. Tho for those here in America who love socialism and communism so much, they should really be defending the actions of the Chinese government as that is exactly where America will end up if we go belly up to their propaganda and cave in.

If they're not happy and don't like living in HK , they should leave and go back where they came from....

Media coverage where I am, makes no attempt to explain what the protestors actually want, the only thing that has been spoken of is the extradition of people to China, and how that proposal has been "suspended", so as clear as mud, really, what would placate them.

Suspended isn't the same as removing a bill completely.

Also alot of them want the current leader to resign for even agreeing to the bill.

I really don't see a lot of difference. If they wanted to try to legislate it again later,  after "removing" it, what is to stop them ?

A suspended bill can come back much easier then if the bill was completely withdrawn.Less political hoops to jump through.

Also look at it in a different way. Imagine for a second that in the U.S a bill was set to go into effect that would make it illegal for anyone to be LGBT. There would be mass protest.

That bill gets "suspended" after protest. Do you honestly think the protestors would go home with a bill against people's rights only being suspended?

It isn't exaggerating, it is the same thing just a different tune.

About 190,000 police officers took part in a drill in southern China on Tuesday as part of the preparations for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic, state media reported.

The exercise was staged in Guangdong province and involved armoured vehicles and helicopters, state news agency Xinhua reported.

It is unusual for such a drill to be held so far from Beijing as police forces in or near the capital are typically used for anniversary events.

The location and scale of the exercise led to concerns that Beijing was preparing for action in Hong Kong, after opposition to a now suspended extradition bill led to violent protests.

@GLCsector3295 Do you see how this is not the same.  You're comparing left leaning propaganda in the USA with a propaganda campaign meant to justify a violent suppression of a former sovereign people.  Your posts are in the wrong thread.

No it is in the right thread, when the communists / socialists here in America, want to start enforcing their points of view, they time and again send out their lap dogs which they label protest groups, right now it is ANTIFA and B.L.M  , the proof is out there, I just don't have time to spoon feed you, the only difference is that they do not yet have control of our military to use at their disposal .  What they do have is now armed IRS agents, the TSA the BLM  The left leaning is no more, it is flat out communism / socialism that has infiltrated and become deep rooted in the Democrat party, and if we are not aware, we will end up like China though for the " left " it shouldn't be a big deal, in fact, the " left " should actually be demonizing and politicizing these protesters.     But the line is because we don't have the US Military staging to suppress citizens then everything is just supposed to be okay ?

Please feel free to spoon feed it in a thread not about China and Hong Kong.  Trigger Warning.  You won't tell me anything I haven't already heard.

China stand to lose a lot if sanctions get place on them for a brutal crackdown.

Therefore I think the only way forward is for them to give the people of Hong Kong what they want. And the longer this goes on the more my gut says they will demand independence.

China could stop things getting that far by acting now.

I doubt a few tweets from Trump and the typical strongly worded letter to the Chinese ambassador from the UK will stop another atrocity.

The sad truth is China only became more powerful after the Tiananmen Square massacre.

The failure by the world to do anything meaningful to China means it fears nothing other than opposition within.

The only threat in the world is its own people as full nuclear war is almost guaranteed with successive lunatics running the show.
