In the city of Mirny, the sun shines almost continuously during the region's white night season in early July, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.

But the summer does not last long. Yakutia is known for having the coldest winters on the planet, which drag on for nine dark months.

This region—rich in oil, gas and precious metals—is also home to eleven out of twelve mines belonging to Russia's Alrosa group, the world's largest producer of rough carats.

The Siberian Traps probably produced them but there is also a meteor crater where they strip search every one of us "shovel jockies" because the impact produced them. None of them are gem grade and just used for manufacturing applications.

As for the Sakhalar (Yakut). The Empire sent the Cossacks to wipe them out. The Russian Army beat them up during the Red Regime, then beat them up again in the late 90s early 2000s and put many of their kids up for adoption and they are still being crapped all over, and they are not just "reindeer herders" they're Hell on horse and cattle breeders.
