HandsomeGorilla Posted July 9, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2019 I don't own a TV, but I'll be watching these online asap! I like that WSM is becoming more mainstream and that people are starting to 'get to know' these guy's characters and personalities rather than just their physical strength. Robert Oberst and Brian Shaw are two of my favorites. You can catch them on YouTube, as well. https://www.history.com/shows/the-strongest-man-in-history/season-1/episode-1

HandsomeGorilla Posted July 28, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Eddie Hall recently said something very interesting. You Brits may know him as the first person to ever deadlift 500kg, 1100lbs for Americans. When he sought out to achieve the record, despite having a team of nutritionists, trainers, psychologists and scientists working with him, he found himself nowhere near his goal. One of the scientists came to Eddie and said that his goal may very well be impossible from muscular strength alone, but there may still be a way. Your average person only uses approximately fifty percent of their muscular strength. Very serious powerlifters and strong man competitors probably use no more than seventy percent, no matter how well trained they are. However, a mother who's child is trapped underneath a car, she has access to one hundred percent thanks to an adrenaline response. With the help of the aforementioned experts, Eddie began training a completely different way; strength was only a part of it. He accessed something deep within him, some very dark, morbid things in his past that he doesn't want to talk about. He trained himself to channel those emotions into the weights and only then did the 500kg become possible. That's why, when asked, he says Eddie Hall didn't lift 500 kilos, the Beast lifted 500 kilos. If you watch the video of him lifting it, the dude is GONE , mentally. His eyes change color. He went blind for several hours afterwards. Pretty surreal stuff.
