I remember at the time, there were a stack of my friends online that were Democrats (from Cali and Hawaii in particular) and they were incredibly worried that Hillary would get in, even though they were Democrat!?!.  Meanwhile my Republican in-laws (who live in Scottsdale AZ) in particular were very worried about having to vote for Trump.

I think perhaps a lot of people were stuck between a rock and a hard place.  Which one to choose?  Hillary who people knew was a career politician with some sketchy decision-making she'd made previously vs the rich playboy businessman with crude humour and had no problem calling out those he disagreed with? What a dilemma right!

Personally, I think the media and the internet gods (the silicon valley ones  )  have a lot to answer for with regards to getting people's hopes up during that time, especially for the Dems.  I have no doubt in my mind that it wouldn't have been such an outright disappointment for them if there hadn't been such hype created by the media re Clinton in the first place imo.

Do you guys that are both Dems and Reps feel this way too?

The media is certainly culpable in different ways for different people. Here's Google talking about how they'll be even more proactive than they were in 2016 at preventing another Trump win. I'm so glad they know what's best for me.

Google actively seeks to control the flow of information. For example you have to search for a positive Trump story whereas the negative ones are fed to you and just the opposite for the Democrats. It's the real collusion, they're trying to affect the outcome of elections. It's a terrible abuse of power.

No, I think who ever runs both parties (think of a pyramid, one boss or group at the apex). chose him.  He is a puppet just like any one either party supports.  There is an agenda and the puppets usually make sure the agenda is followed.  Nixon and maybe old George Bush cut some of the strings and one was taken down, the other put out to pastrue.  Reagan is proof of this as he was already suffering from alzheimers the first time he ran.

Do you feel that this would've applied to Obama, Clinton, JFK too? (I'm sorry, I've put JFK as I believe he was democrat, but I'm horrid at remembering presidents, I can't even remember priministers here  my bad).

I often think old George Bush and Nixon were most likely as corrupt as they come. I'm unsure about Reagan as he was portrayed as an evil warmonger here during that time.

I'll always remember Clinton as helping achieve world peace as that's how he was portrayed by the media.  I remember most Aussies couldn't see the big drama on why he'd be impeached about lying over the Lewinski debacle.  Some Aussie's just had the attitude of "Good on ya Mate!", I mean prior to that we had an ex priminister (Malcolm Fraser) caught with his pants down and we didn't even bat an eyelid at that.  Maybe we're just not so serious about things here!

My bad, I'm getting off topic, apologies. :)

Oh yes I remember when that came out the other week and I was truly disgusted in how she said "We're not going to change our minds" and I thought to myself, well you're never going to get anywhere thinking like that.  And what's worse is this is a huge company that shouldn't even have an opinion on politics.  They should be OBJECTIVE and not interfere at all.

I'm all for progression but lets be honest here, what's happened to that HR rule where people should not be judged upon race, colour, creed, religion or political beliefs.  Once upon a time politics and religion were a taboo topic.  Now company's use this against ALL of us, no matter which side you're on.  Pretty disgusting really.  I think it's wrong.

I truly hope Dems and Reps are able to see the work that Project Veritas does as this is awfully sad to see what journalism has had to evolve into nowadays to actually get the truth out of people.  You can see through this employee's attitude by what comes out of her mouth that people like this will NEVER be willing to work with the other side and yet they scream progression, but don't put it into practice.

ps.  It was funny the next day after this came out, you could watch all of her social media accounts get deleted, closed or set to private.  It was like watching the system in action, protecting one of their own.  Because you sure as hell can't see them doing the same thing as fast for a person of opposing beliefs to them.  They're censored and/or banned well before that'd ever happen!   It's a disgusting display of hypocrisy.  :(

Oh man you people are so unbelievably comical.

The three inverted triggerwords / doublespeak in a single sentence.. only 'Migrants' seems to be missing here.

'Socialism' :o, 'hate of Israel' :o, and 'hate of the USA' :o.

There is nothing wrong with employing a certain grade of socialism in any given society to counter the disproportionate distribution of wealth. It does not equate communism, and it does not constitute a threat to the people (rather the complete opposite, if employed in a balanced fashion.. just like 'Holy Capitalism'). Regarding socialism as a whole as some sort of evil is just completely moronic, like regarding capitalism as thesame would be. People laugh about those silly religious extremists barring all books as evil, but this is not a farcry from that sort of logic.

Critique on Israel in regards to the Palestinian situation or the unconstitutional, unAmerican control this foreign power wields over the USA does not equate 'hate of Israel'. The very fact this is promoted as such should make you sit the f* up and take notice. The subsequent fact Trump fans - priding themselves in patriotism / nationalism - do not is a strong indication of the level of conditioning at play.

Thesame critical stance towards influence of a foreign state / government corruption does in no way mean any such person is 'anti American'. In fact; the people defending the anti Semetic witchhunt for standing critical towards the unconstitutional control of thesame foreign state could in fact be called anti American.. As is the case for people defending any disproportionate political control in the US from any foreign state, because thats exactly what it is.. Anti American.

What a comical little circus this is.. Brought to you by primitive identity politics and dim constituents. Unbelievable, I think we have safely arrived at a new low for Mankind.

But it is a threat - to crony capitalists, white collar criminals whom have not been caught yet, banks, Bernie Madoff types. Even the little bit of socialism that we have now in our society is a threat to them. Billions of dollars can not be made off of financially naive people if regulations and consumer protection laws are in place. So even the little bit of socialism we have now and any talk of more must be demonized as much as possible to keep it to almost nil.

I find it funny that there's quite a lot of American's that see Trump as a media personality.  I must be getting too old as I've only ever seen him as a rich playboy businessman who's always liked to have beautiful ladies on his arm.  He's always been someone to brag about what he has, and I get that.  I don't even find that offensive because some people are just like that.  They need to boost themselves up to feel better or keep their confidence up and I guess I just see him as one of those types.

Do you feel that the tv show he had in the US contributes as to the reason why some people see him as a media personality rather than a politician?  I might not see him as a media personality because I never watched that tv show either.

I see him as a politician now, only because he was voted in and is now the president.   At worst, imo, Dems should be joyously thinking they only have to wait 8 years at a maximum to be rid of Trump and be ready for the next leader.  At least you guys have that in your favour as opposed to living in most other countries where we don't have that time limit of a max of 2 terms of 4 years.  To give you an example, I think we had some priminister for 15 years straight at one stage here!!!

There are positives to each side, no matter which way you look at it, so that's always a good thing.  :)

Definitely, he has been on television as a media personality for almost 20 years.  I agree with you, that I did not find his attitude offensive before, and I understand his behaviour on his television shows but as president it is not appropriate and it seems to me he has become more extreme since he got elected.  He acts like a television media personality, on par with Rush Limbaugh and Bill Mahr, not like a leader of a country, or even  a puppet leader of a country.

Yes, definitely Clinton and Obama, it was obvious to me why.  They wanted to retire old George, and there was a lot of grumbling about republicans so we got a democrat, no better or worse than any before him.  Nixon too but I am not sure about Kennedy.  I think he was a wild card and that is why he was assassinated (yes, conspiracy, but nothing else makes sense when you look at all that was going on and that went on after)  But after Kennedy definitely we have had fixed races every time.

Nixon was very corrupt to the point that he decided he would not play his part for the "party" and take over himself, and that is why they took  him down the way they did, to make sure he was not a martyr like Kennedy and to be sure he could never bother them in politics again.  Obama was a "gift" just to take us off guard but he was as controlled as any of his predecessors.  People think Trump is a loose cannon but what I see is an immature, narcissistic person who is easily manipulated by feeding his ego.  They probably have one person whose only job is to feed Trump's ego in a way to have him say and do/sign what ever they want him to.  Reagan was one like that too, except he had Alzheimer's and was still very good a reading scripts.  You could tell by the things he actually said when he lost his script or forgot where he was.  He thought it was right after WW2 half the time.  People just don't pay attention, and they also want to believe the lies they are fed on what ever network news they choose because it supports their slanted world view.

As for who "they" are, I have not clue except they must be very rich, Machiavellian in belief system and very power hungry and greedy.  Controllers at the highest level.  I have read some things that say it is a group and they don't always agree so they work at cross purposes, I don't know except that it has to do with controlling large numbers of people and it is not just the U.S. that is being controlled. It could be a group so old we couldn't even fathom how they have kept power for so long.  And it is NOT aliens from outer space.

Has anyone actually said how Trump is being racist? It seems he is targeting political beliefs and nation of origin, not skin color.

I found a quote from George Washington that I think is appropriate for the way this discussion has gone.

Quote

“The common and continual mischief's [sic] of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and the duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it. It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passion.”

George Washington, Washington's farewell address: delivered to Congress on September 19, 1796

"ill founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles animosity"  exactly what I see from democrats and republicans all the time.  Baaaaaah!

I agree with her, if you have to fear someone fear the reality, not the fantasy.  I have met people who had muslim friends before 2001 and after the 9-11 they dropped those friends and blamed them for the 9-11 attack only because they were muslim.  When I asked if their "friends" were born in the U.S. they said, "of course."  ~~??~~ !!  Absolutely irrational and obviously they were no real friend to the people they claimed were their friend.  Mind numbed zombies reacting in fear of something they know nothing about.

This country was founded on freedom of religion but based on the way a lot of christians act, they think it is only their religion, that no one else has rights.  The only terrorists I have met are the men who beat my sister and my daughter, and they were U.S. citizens, not foreigners and not muslims.  And they weren't even radical religoius, just reprobates that hated women and spent as much time terrorizing them as possible.

Please, DesertRat, I'm surprised at you.  You listen to her race baiting clap trap rantings?

Of course, white people commit more crimes, there are more white people. Doh. But she said it anyway, and all to stir up a racial divide.

This is talk right out of the KKK and why I have her and the democrat party in contempt, they are trying SO HARD to start race wars.

Where is the dem trying to bring the country together? Where??

ALL of politics is geared for division and dissonance and emotional manipulation.  I agree with her that we have other things to fear than islamic terrorists!!!   I have examples of why, including the fear and anger mongering of our current president as well as most politicians.  You need to be rational about this and quit making it about race.  We have strong women politicians and they are going to speak out just as loudly as the old men have over the years and that is what you seem to have a problem with, that we are actually hearing from smart women, who happen to have darker skin than you do.  And by the way, there are not more white people in the U.S. you just don't see non-whites for some reason.  Maybe you live too far east and south, or maybe you live in a small town in the mid west where the non-white communities are small towns away from your town, I don't know.  If you don't make it about race you may hear something different or perceive a different message from these women that you object to.

P.S.  it has nothing to do with democrats or republicans, neither party wants to bring this contry together because that would be the end of them.

There are not more white people? Whites make up around 70% of the population and she made it about race. Democrats always do. That's all they ever do. They never shut up about it.

Yeah, democrats...  always democrats with you.   Even when I lived in Virginia I never saw a 70% white population.  I know people who refuse to fill out the census so you can't use that as your yard stick.
