The "thunderbird" allegedly killed near Tombstone, Arizona in 1890 is one of the most infamous stories in cryptozoology. It is used by some diehard cryptozoologists and creationists as an example of an encounter with a living pterosaur. However, anyone taking this story seriously has to ignore the ridiculous measurements reported in the original newspaper article (Anon., 1890). Here I scaled my own silhouette of the creature using these measurements, since no one else has ever bothered to do it.
