I am amazed that any country ever signed up to an 8-year maximum tenure, it seems that even the Second Coming would run out of puff after eight years, under that thinking. Crazy.

Originally Congress and the senate had term limits and the president didn't.  All of those jobs were supposed to be civic duty for 2 years then go home to your real life.

Presidents come and go. 8 years max. However congress members on both parties been their as much as 40 years. I say Term Limits for them also.

Not too late to the party to drop some wisdom anyway.  Thanks.

I was under the impression that FDR was the reason for the change, the fear being that a super popular president could see one political party being excluded from the presidency indefinitely, as if that was something unhealthy, but does not make sense in a situation where the will of the people should decide, not some arbitrary rule that allows parties to have their "turn" at regular intervals.

FDR was only the reason for the presidential change.  Greed was the reason for Congress and Senate removing their term limits and giving themselves unreasonable raises and benefits.

I gave up on the debt.

Every president in my lifetime has just increased it. At a faster and faster rate it seems lol.

No president will be able to fix it. It would require too much cuts and too much taxes.

The debt isn't an accident.  It's a designed measure to position a global government takeover once the world economy collapses as it inevitably will do.

Well, I don't know quotes, but  I did pick up that  the press was down on her for wearing the jacket that said "I really don't care do you"  when she went to visit the border.  That was some sort of statement.

Also she has gotten flack for her anti-bullying campaign when her hubby is the #1 bully.  I don't think she has a lot of influence over him.

The press was not too complimentary of her trip to Africa, fashionably dressed as the white memsaab.

Yet she hasn't never been criticized for her looks, or the way she talks, nor has she been compared  to a lower primate.   Nobody has made much press of the fact that her parents are a prime example of chain immigration which this administration is much opposed to for non Trump related people.

From her frequent public expression, I believe the poor lady wishes she was anywhere else but the White House.  It is not what she signed up for, and I am sure it is not easy or often even enjoyable for her.

First time I have heard that.  I thought it was flagrant overspending and the need to bribe voters with bright shinys that we can't pay for.

Who is designing it then, our Congress and our President?

my crickets and tumbleweeds remark was because my question wasnt answered,

i compare Melania to jackie o in some ways, both were married to playboys but dons games is in melanias face far more.

sure, her "dont care" jacket got flack and i think her message wasnt that she didnt care about the boarder which she likely doesnt she likely was sending a message to donny,

sure the wife of a huge bully will get flack for trying to play anti bully yet married to a big one, its hypocritical

the lady is rich, most of us could live the rest of our lives as we now live just for what her wedding ring cost, so i have no idea how she was suppose to dress to go to Africa but no matter what she wore someone would have critiqued it.

i would suspect any flack or dumped on she gets is unfair collateral damage from people wanting to poke at don.

i think the marrage is just for show.

michelle had been dumped on worse and we all know it.

This is the sort of conspiracy theory that was really popular back in the late 2000s. I even ascribed to similar opinions on debt, back in the day. Anyone with no understanding of the modern world can easily be led down that path.

The truth is that debt is the thing that allows for out entire consumer society to function. It's what has led to this unprecedented age of relative prosperity when the traditional industrial society has all but died. It has nothing to do with some global conspiracy to take over governments - that's an extremely uninformed and almost childish opinion on the purpose of debt.

The world might be headed towards some form of global government (though likely not for a very long time and not in the manner in which conspiracy theorists think), for the simple reason that the world is now so connected and countries so entangled that it simply makes sense. But it will be a natural progression and not some grand conspiracy theory envisioned and carried out by shadowy organisations hellbent on world domination.

Poor Michelle still has to deal with people claiming she's actually a man...

There was that time when the unheard of Bill Clinton, a little known man from Podunk Arkansas, was at the bottom of a large pack of candidates trying to become democrat nominee to face off with incumbent George Bush Sr. Then, he took off like a rocket ship.

Ditto for Obama who trailed HRC badly. He too experienced that never-to-look-back surge and beat Hilary easily.

Right now, I see no one that capable except for Mayor Pete. He hasn't surged but he might. Other than that, I see no one capable of toppling Trump. It's still early but...

Funny thing is though, back in those days of yore (92) candidates actually still tried to sepperate themselves from each other...

This batch have all latched themselves to and outright stolen Bernies stances, only difference being is they speak the words of "but i'm not a socialist" to seperate themselves lol

Biden i believe has the most legit chance to defeat Trump, but he's gotta lot of skeletons hidden in plain sight...

okay, remember im ignorant to politics however, i think biden if hes the dem people think might could beat trump ( or any dem for that matter ) will have to work 10xs harder to beat trump than trump has to work to beat him,

i believe trump has lost some of his 2016 supporters likely not enough to matter and a lot of people who dont even necessarily like trump will vote for him as a lessor of two evils, the first 4 years were okay 4 more cant hurt, people like drama and trump is king drama llama.

i guess im saying if trump wins its not because everyone loves him and if he loses its because he lost too many who did worship him. time will tell.

If the Democrats boldly push a "Get Trump" candidate like Biden, Harris, Booker, etc.. prepare to lose. You push a respectable candidate that is admired by both parties like Tulsi Gabbard. You stand a chance and would even get my vote, and Trump would go away.

I wonder what weight health care, the opium epidemic, crumbling infrastructure, and the environment will have on the election?
