glorybebe Posted July 23, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2019 The deaths of three people and the disappearances of two young men within a week amid the wild expanses of Northern B.C. have set residents on edge. RCMP have cautioned against linking the cases but have not entirely ruled out a connection. Officers have also acknowledged "growing community concerns" about the homicide investigations. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-killed-missing-alaska-highway-1.5220571 pretty scary. 3

glorybebe Posted July 23, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted July 23, 2019 They are thinking that this may be unrelated to the Highway of Tears. New police release is: B.C. RCMP say they have received “a number of tips” regarding a person of interest in the case of two tourists killed in northern British Columbia. RCMP say investigators are aware of Derek Whisenand, a Texas man who crossed the border into Canada sometime around June 24. https://globalnews.ca/news/5671918/rcmp-texas-murder-suspect-tips-northern-bc-double-homicide/

+susieice Posted July 23, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2019 I hope the authorities can put together what happened to these people soon and no one else is harmed. It's scary to think there may be a serial killer on the loose.

I wonder where these two suspects could be. Either way, they've wasted their lives if they've killed these poor people. Hope they find them quickly.

Oh that's great news that they're closing in. Oh my, that poor father. It's not how average Dad's bring up their children to be running off and killing random people, so I can only surmise it would be absolutely devastating for him to think his son has done this and on a suicide mission to boot. Very sad situation all round including the victim's families too.
Earl.Of.Trumps Posted July 26, 2019 #15 Share Posted July 26, 2019 Bingo, @pixiii and @susieice. It's every parents nightmare for their kid to grow to be a serious felon. And this can happen to parents that have several other children that are perfectly good, responsible people. Case in point was the unibomber, Ted Kaczynski, who was actually turned in by his mother and brother. You never know! 2
+susieice Posted July 26, 2019 #16 Share Posted July 26, 2019 Police are now following up on two sightings of the boys in the area of a small town in Manitoba. The wilderness in the area they are believed to be in is extremely rugged. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2019/07/26/canada-manhunt-teens-wanted-killings-likely-afoot-rough-terrain/1835486001/

pallidin Posted July 27, 2019 #18 Share Posted July 27, 2019 The area the suspects are considered to be in is "swamp" The bugs in that area are brutal and extremely aggressive... which includes horse flies. My understanding is that if they are in the swamps, survival is unlikely unless they go back into dry public spaces.
