I don't know Risky. We keep hearing about how buddy buddy they are and I just heard about this. I didn't think he liked China all that much either. I know N Korea just fired off a third test rocket yesterday.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/north-korea-confirms-test-firing-of-rocket-launcher-system-third-weapons-test-in-just-over-a-week-today-2019-08-03/

 thanks for that. So North Korea, Russian and Chinese ally gets to develop and test more weapon, China gets a seat at the table and Russia gets to flourish its arms business by thumbing it’s nose at congress and the senate while Trump plays used car salesman.

lovely!

It truly is Trump Derangement Syndrome at its most virulent, if you'd rather have global conflict because that's the only way that would satisfy you that would prove he's not under the thumb of Russia's Dictator in his scheme to take over the world.

No. Trump just withdrew from the treaty with Russia unless he plans to draw up another one. The news said the US is going to test a new missile.

No, apparently he’s going to re-negotiate .

surprise surprise

What the hell is CAATSA, apart from a now very good acronym?

I just saw all this stuff and one was an article from the BBC. They seem ready to blame Trump for starting a nuclear war. I was just so surprised because I thought the Russians were trolling Farcebook to influence the election again.

The alleged obstruction of justice?

This, along with other crimes such as that which Michael Cohen is currently serving time in prison for. That campaign finance crime had Trump as an unindicted coconspirator - if he wasn't President then he'd already have been charged with it.

They could also choose to Impeach for events such as the Trump Tower meeting. The only reason this was not considered a crime was basically because Mueller thought Trump Jr was too stupid to know he was breaking the law.

In addition to examples such as these, Trump's actions match most of the criteria for all of Nixon's articles of impeachment.

Considering Impeachment is a political and not a legal process, there are countless possibilities for Dems to consider.

So I take it everything else I said was okay?

I'd say calling on Russia to hack emails was very relevant as well, considering they did so for the first time mere hours after Trump asked for help.

In relation to him breaking the law - sorry, which part of the law in particular do you mean?   This isn't still related to the Mueller inquiry is it? Or perhaps the issue of not showing his tax returns?  The alleged obstruction of justice?  Sometimes it's impossible to keep up with this all of this :lol:

Personally I think both sides consider the other to be brainwashed at this point.  There doesn't appear to be any middle ground anymore.  I have my doubts that they'll galvanise enough people to swing the votes around to Dem again...although, crazier things have happened....   :huh:

Also, this statement from Pelosi should give you an idea of what avenues they are pursuing.

Quote

Last week, Jerry Nadler, Chair of Judiciary, took a significant step when he filed a petition to obtain the grand jury testimony underlying the Mueller report, for the House to ‘have access to all the relevant facts and consider whether to exercise its full Article I powers, including a constitutional power of the utmost gravity — approval of articles of impeachment.’

Elijah Cummings, Chair of Oversight and Reform, is winning in court in the Mazars case, seeking the President’s financial statements and reports prepared by his accountant to determine financial conflicts, violations of the Emoluments Clause, and the truthfulness of representations contained in the President’s statutorily required financial disclosure forms; Maxine Waters, Chair of Financial Services and Adam Schiff, Chair of Intelligence are winning in court in the Deutsche Bank case, seeking the President’s bank account records to assist with the Committees’ investigation of unsafe banking practices, including money laundering, illicit transactions and foreign investments;

Richie Neal, Chair of Ways and Means, is pursuing the President’s tax returns to assist with the ongoing investigation of the IRS’s presidential tax audit program; Eliot Engel, Chair of Foreign Affairs, on another front, is investigating the Russia connection with hearings seeking the facts from the Trump-Putin meetings; In addition, last week, the House voted to reiterate its oversight authority, and ratified and affirmed the subpoenas already issued by the committees and any subpoenas to come. Responding to the subpoenas gives the President an opportunity to provide information that could exonerate him. If he has nothing to hide, he should cooperate with the subpoenas.

Impeachment is part of a  political means of removing a president.  It is the equivalent of a legal indictment where charges are officially filed.  By itself, it is simply a formal accusation.  A trial in the Senate must follow and the Senators have to vote to remove the president by a 2/3 majority.  That's 67 of 100 that must vote guilty.  With the current makeup of the Senate, it would require all Democrats and about 15+ Republicans to vote to remove him.  It just isn't going to happen.

Wow, thanks so much for explaining that @and then - yeeeeeeea, I highly doubt the Senate would be able to swing 15+ Reps and that's assuming that ALL of the Dems voted on party lines.  This seems like a "bigger than Ben Hur" feat to carry out. :lol:

Do you know what @ExpandMyMind was referring to when they said Trump has broken the law.  Which law has he broken please?  Not Russia this. Not Collusion that. Not, I don't wanna reveal my tax returns.

It's all fair and well to say he's broken a law, but when asked what law, nobody answers.

Exactly what law has Trump broken?  Federal?  State?

Obstruction is a crime and it was very clearly broken on multiple occasions. Campaign finance law was broken with the Stormy Daniels cover up - Cohen is in prison for it.

There are currently something like 20 criminal investigations into Trump.

I think she's waiting patiently to get her ducks in a row, to have such a solid case against Trump that for Republicans to ignore it would be political suicide with all voters but the most idiotic and fanatical Republicans.

Waiting patiently. Right. She's had more than enough time. I'm glad to see a lot of pressure is being put on her. Just file the charges.

all of it was too unimportant to really waste much time on. It is hard to know what you mean by this.

The US's foreign policy lately has rarely coincided with that of Russia.

I don't think Trump gets any Foreign Policy steers from Putin. But in many cases it seems the ones Trump conjures up and his actions between watching Fox News and getting to this Golf Buggy, would put, at least,  smile on Putin's face:

  • His continual attempts to break up / diminish the EU, (his support for Brexit, removing the UK from the EU);
  • His trade attacks on allies (aluminum);
  • His vocal denigration of allies in NATO (Germany);
  • His Trade War with China - (improving Russia China relations);
  • His ambivalence towards Turkey getting Russian military hardware;
  • His divisive style of governing the USA

What's the rush? Their ultimate objective is to win the next election, so really they can drag it out all the way to then with a drip-drip-drip of testimony and reveals from the investigation controlling the news cycle. Why would she do so before having as much ammunition as possible? The same outcome would be reached even without introducing articles.

I'd rather this whole timeline was over with, but Pelosi is doing it the smart way. She started as 'no' for impeachment, and gradually as more information has come to light she's changed her opinion slightly, but still hasn't said outright she supports impeachment. By the end of it she'll be able to say 'well, I wasn't for impeachment, as I said from the beginning, but as you all can see I have been left with no other choice... yada-yada'.

In other words, she's playing politics.

Three years is not a rush when you have so much against someone. Enough. Congress is putting a lot of pressure on her to move. Good for them. Now, file the charges. You aren't American anyway so don't worry about it.

If people only listen to Trump when he's being facetious then it's no wonder people see that as him speaking in code.

IMO He was clearly talking about Hillary Clinton being subpoenaed for getting rid of 33,000 emails.  In that video, all he wants is justice carried out.  I'm not sure how anyone can read anything into it, other than that?  There was no conspiracy there at all.

Did Trump benefit from asking Russia to release emails? Trump doesn't seem to think so even though American intelligence believes that Russia interfered BUT still Trump doesn't believe that Russia interfered even though he benefited.

She has said multiple times that it's not the right time for impeachment, plus she's experienced enough to know that it won't go anywhere.  I believe she's simply trying to hold on to her power between the old guard dems and the new extreme leftists in keeping the peace basically.

Why all the hesitation and playing politics? Who would wait for three years if someone was committing so many serious crimes and still be heehawing? They're pulling everyone in front of committees, throwing accusations and going on and on and on.

Now you know that won't happen. Don't make excuses. If he committed so much then file. Stop griping. She's under a lot of pressure to do it now. She will soon lose the majority.
