Still Waters Posted August 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2019 It is the "Holy Grail" of gooseberry growing, according to the man who has broken a world record for the heaviest gooseberry. Graeme Watson's prize-winning fruit weighed in at 64.56g, beating the previous record set in 2013 of 64.49g. The 59-year-old, from Ainthorpe, North Yorkshire, is a member of the Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Society. He was crowned champion at their annual show beating about 30 other competitors. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-49254511
aztek Posted August 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2019 i love gooseberry, too bad they almost do not exist in usa, once in a blue moon i see them in a store, but it tastes like grass, the ones i tried in Russia and Ukraine were much much better, but they are normally not much bigger than a cherry, we tried to grow it in upstate, but it did not work out
