Epstein found Dead in Jail

“It’s quite brutal in many ways — the queen is really putting a foot down and saying this cannot continue,” said David McClure, a royal commentator and author. “It has become tremendously damaging in terms of the reputation of the whole monarchy, not just Andrew, so the queen really did have to make a decision.”

It comes after a tough two years for the monarch, who lost her husband, Prince Philip, and saw Prince Harry leave the family for a new life in the United States with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, amid accusations of racism that the family has vehemently denied.

Andrew will no longer be able to use “His Royal Highness” in any capacity, a royal source told NBC News. He will give up a dozen military titles and will no longer be patron of more than 100 organizations and clubs — though many had already cut ties with him. He retains his rank as vice admiral and remains ninth in line to the British throne.

Hours before the palace statement Thursday, the anti-monarchy campaign group Republic released a letter signed by some 150 veterans asking the queen to “take immediate steps to strip Prince Andrew of all his military ranks.”

“We understand that he is your son,” the letter went on, but “these steps could have been taken at any time in the past eleven years. Please do not leave it any longer.”

Ghislaine will not fight to protect the 8 people who are named in the documents Guiffre wants released. They'll have to use there own attorneys to try and keep their names private.

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/01/17/us/ghislaine-maxwell-john-does/index.html

Ghislaine Maxwell will no longer fight to keep the names of eight 'John Does' secret and will leave it to the court to decide whether the names should be unsealed, according to a January 12 letter to federal Judge Loretta Preska of the Southern District of New York.

The documents containing the names are connected to a 2015 defamation case brought by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claimed Epstein sexually abused her while she was a minor and that Maxwell aided in the abuse. The case was settled in 2017.

Ghislaine was expected to request a retrial today after a juror revealed he was a victim of child sexual abuse.

https://news.yahoo.com/ghislaine-maxwell-news-socialite-expected-174447634.html

It could run into a roadblock.

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/19/nyregion/ghislaine-maxwell-trial-juror.html

In trying to assess the impact of the jury room disclosures that Juror 50 described in the news media — and potentially those of the second juror as well — the judge is likely to be blocked by one of the legal system’s most stringent and time-honored rules: She cannot ask the jurors what happened during their deliberations. And the jurors are not allowed to tell her.

Even though jurors may speak to the news media or write about their experiences, the Supreme Court has held that any jurors’ statements or testimony about the inner workings of deliberations cannot be used by lawyers challenging a verdict, or by a judge deciding whether to overturn it.

The only exception, the Supreme Court has said, is where overt statements during deliberations show a juror was motivated by racial animus in voting to convict.

Prince Andrew's ex-girlfriend claims Clinton and Epstein were like brothers in new documentary.

Prince Andrew's ex-girlfriend Lady Victoria Hervey claimed in a documentary that Jeffrey Epstein and former President Bill Clinton "loved" being around the Duke of York, and that Epstein and Clinton were "like brothers."

The new ITV documentary, "Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile," explores the relationship between Prince Andrew, British socialite and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, and convicted sex offender Epstein. The 45-minute documentary hosted by reporter Ranvir Singh aired on Tuesday in the UK to mixed reviews.

Hi Sisieice

Those 8 names are likely all in the rich and powerful club. In this, my vindictive streak come through.  I hope they are all outed. If you have a child and especially a daughter, even if she has strayed from a path that you approve of, you do not want to see her used like an object for someone else's pleasure and cast aside like garbage by someone who thinks all society is beneath them and  fair game to satisfy their desires.

This is a separate action started by Guiffre. Ghislaine and her attorneys have already indicated that they will do nothing to stop the documents from being released. She's got her own skin to worry about. I don't see a retrial really, but we will see.

From what I've learned in the years researching this thread, I may try to guess by the descriptions who they are if the documents come out heavily redacted. :P I know a lot of the stories. I really hope after these 8, more documents follow!

Hi Susieice

I am not sure that she won’t get a retrial but we will have to wait and see given 3 jurors did not disclose sexual abuse prior to the trial and it seems that it was on the questions for jury selection.
As long as there is any questionable actions regarding her conviction they will likely hold off on going after the big guns till her case is given the yea or neigh.

Her stopping her blockading of names is likely all those 8 people need to motivate them to work their magic as they all have legal teams that work with Ghislaine’s council during this trial to protect themselves.

Andrew isn’t an American which is why I think he was singled out first. Yes they should all be accountable but maybe I don’t trust the justice system to work.

There were 2 jurors in question. Apparently the questionnaire they filled out did ask about prior sexual abuse, but during the questioning by the attorneys for jury selection, the question wasn't asked.

I still don't see a retrial though.

The judge sounds like she will release the other documents and the 8 are already trying to stop it. We'll see how soon they are released. I don't think they'll wait for Ghislaine because she has nothing to do with this. She may be mentioned but that's about it. This is between Guiffre and the 8.

Hi Susieice

In the article you linked there were 2 and a potential third juror if so that is 1/4 of the jurors. The lawyers will ask questions based on the information given in the questionnaire,  if a potential juror did not disclose that information in the questionnaire then the lawyers will not ask as it is assumed that they had not been sexually abused.

If the potential jurors did disclose it in the questionnaire then either the lawyers did it deliberately or were negligent in their duty.

No defence lawyer would ever accept a potential juror in this type of case if there was sexual abuse in their background because of prejudice. With the other unnamed involved it could be enough to overturn her conviction and may have been orchestrated from the beginning.

We'll see what happens. I don't think she'd win a retrial anyway even if she got one, but I don't think her conviction will be overturned.

The judge has scheduled the sentencing for Maxwell for June 28. That will change should Maxwell be granted a new trial.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/20/jeffrey-epstein-procurer-ghislaine-maxwell-seeks-new-trial-.html

Nathan is awaiting arguments from both prosecutors and defense lawyers on the question of whether she should conduct an inquiry into the juror’s questionnaire and his possible effect on fellow jurors during deliberations.

In the meantime, she has set a June 28 sentencing date for Maxwell. That sentencing would be canceled if the judge ends up ordering a new trial for her.

Maxwell remains held without bail in a federal jail in Brooklyn.

The prosecution says more victims have come forward since Maxwell's conviction and said they will participate in any investigations into her conduct.

The prospect of a new trial for Ghislaine Maxwell would be frustrating for victims who may be asked to testify again, and to the prosecutors who successfully convicted her on charges of sex-trafficking them to Jeffrey Epstein.

But it wouldn't be the end of the world, according to Brad Edwards, an attorney representing 58 women who have accused Epstein of misconduct.

Since jurors convicted Maxwell in late December, more women have contacted Edwards to say they'd be willing to participate in any investigations into her conduct, he told Insider.

"What has happened since the guilty verdict is more people have come forward, willing to share their stories about Ghislaine and testify," Edwards said. "So I don't think a new trial would go any better for her. In fact, I think it would go worse for her."

A clever defence silk would do just that, so if they lose they can call for a mistrial.

The Federal Judge has sent requests to both England and Australia for depositions from 4 people in the Prince Andrew/ Guiffre trial.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/court-requests-deposition-prince-andrew-215533025.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9kdWNrZHVja2dvLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAGZcKkKnuO02u6UEOeQ5GP5uzVqvAO7DQur9EV0xlTB7pNLYBDYEA3T3GmSrith-kXtQdXmw1W9ZW6jEwWCWzHzWlaAfDeGKwkKvK5nQ6crndOQRD6NHqbtoVmaeVM4T8ATpfleJMGTJQqum_ylKpqNlP86vKwCPWtLA90L3hREY

In the four separate letters, which entered into the public record on Monday, District Judge Lewis Kaplan formally requested depositions from two British nationals — Robert Ashton Olney and Shukri Walker — and two Australians: Robert Giuffre and Dr. Judith Lightfoot.

Olney is arguably the most intriguing request, as he used to be Prince Andrew’s “equerry” — a term for a member of the royal family’s staff — and was listed in Epstein’s address book under the entry for the royal. As such, the letter notes Olney “likely has elevation information” about Andrew’s travels to and from Epstein’s properties, and about Andrew’s “relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.” Olney’s testimony could help prove or cast doubt on Andrew’s claim that he never met or abused Giuffre.

The letter goes on to list six areas of questioning for Olney that will be fair game during the deposition: Andrew’s relationship with Epstein and Maxwell; any communication Andrew might’ve had with, or about, Epstein; any communication Andrew might’ve had with, or about, Maxwell; any communication Andrew might’ve had with, or about, Giuffre; Andrew’s travels to or from New York City (Giuffre has accused Andrew of abusing her in Epstein’s Manhattan home); and Andrew’s travels to and from any other Epstein homes.

The U.S. federal judge also asked the Attorney General of Australia to get testimony from Giuffre’s husband, Robert Giuffre, and Dr. Judith Lightfoot, a psychologist who’s worked with Giuffre. Robert’s testimony was requested to “test the veracity” of Virginia’s various allegations, including how she met Andrew, her history of trauma and sexual abuse, and her claim that Epstein and Maxwell had threatened her with “death or bodily harm.” Lawyers will also be able to ask Robert about where Virginia has lived in recent years, a topic Andrew’s team has argued will release the royal from being charged in the U.S.

As for Lightfoot, the court requested testimony from her on the nature of Giuffre’s alleged childhood trauma and abuse, the medical treatment she’s received, and other matters discussed ruing their sessions together. Lawyers will also be able to ask Lightfoot about Giuffre’s “alleged emotional and psychological harm and damages,” but also the “theory of false memories.” (During Maxwell’s trial, her defense team tried to discredit the testimony of victims and accusers by putting on the stand Elizabeth Loftus, an expert on false memories who’d also testified at the trials of Harvey Weinstein, Ted Bundy, and Robert Durst.)

The last letter sent out regarded the testimony of Shukri Walker, who previously told the FBI that she vividly remembered seeing Andrew and a young girl at the London nightclub Tramp in March 2001, which is when Giuffre has accused Andrew of assault. Walker, who’s also spoken with some press outlets, has said the memory has stayed with her because she remembers apologizing to Prince Andrew after stepping on his foot while dancing. Lawyers will be able to question Walker about Andrew and Giuffre’s presence at Tramp in March 2001, and any interactions between the two she may have witnessed

Well this is interesting. Andrew wants Kevin Spacey to testify that Ghislaine was his guest at a tour of Buckingham Palace where photos were taken of Spacey and Ghislaine sitting on Elizabeth I's and Prince Philip's thrones. Trying to distance himself from Ghislaine now?
