COURT TV is discussing the case but not in the courtroom. Will see what is posted in the media as today is opening arguments.

A defense lawyer suggested to jurors on Monday that the sex trafficking case against Ghislaine Maxwell was a misdirected effort by prosecutors who had targeted her because they had lost the chance to put the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein on trial.

The lawyer, Bobbi Sternheim, took her turn addressing jurors after a prosecutor delivered a 35-minute opening statement that painted Ms. Maxwell in harsh terms as someone who “played an essential role” in a decade-long scheme to entice and manipulate young girls who were groomed methodically then sexually abused by Mr. Epstein.

NEW YORK, NY—They were young girls who dreamed of becoming professional musicians, or models, or actresses—but they often came from poor families and their parents needed money. They were the perfect targets for a pair of high-society “predators” who dazzled them with fabulous wealth and promised them the world—and who then allegedly groomed, molested, and raped them.

Such was the story presented by federal prosecutors on the first day of Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial in connection to multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein’ssex-trafficking ring.

The first witness has testified.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/29/ghislaine-maxwell-trial-starts-charged-with-aiding-jeffrey-epstein.html

A former long-time pilot of sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein was called as the first witness Monday at the federal criminal trial of British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of procuring underage girls to be sexually abused by Epstein years ago.

The pilot, Larry Visoski, flew Epstein’s Boeing 727 on multiple trips, according to Florida law enforcement files obtained by NBC News. Those records appear to show he was at the controls for several flights when Maxwell and others were on board.

Visoki was called to the witness stand in U.S. District Court in Manhattan by prosecutors after opening arguments in the case.

Hopefully Jezebel will be put into her bed of terrible woes.

Quote

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

28 And I will give him the morning star.

29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

From the NYT coverage of today's trial:

Quote

Mr. Visoski described, in broad strokes, the role Ms. Maxwell played in managing Mr. Epstein’s household and properties, describing their relationship as “couple-ish.” Guided by photographs presented as evidence, Mr. Visoski also described Mr. Epstein’s residences. [...]

Mr. Visoski said he flew Mr. Epstein regularly — “pretty much every four days we were on the road flying somewhere.” He mostly flew Mr. Epstein between his palatial homes in New York City, Paris, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Palm Beach, Fla., and Santa Fe, N.M.

The advantages of private air travel, Mr. Visoski said, were that “you can leave when you want,” and “the security is much less.” Mr. Visoski said he did not always know precisely who was flying on Mr. Epstein’s planes with him.

Mr. Visoski testified for about half an hour before the jury was dismissed for the day. He is expected to return Tuesday morning to continue his testimony.

Apparently the defense will argue that Ghislaine is being pursued as a scapegoat for the now deceased Epstein's actions, that the abused witnesses' memories are unreliable, and that the accusers' motives are mercenary, ie: they want to get payouts from the Epstein estate.

The defense is going to try anything they can. Those victims deserve any justice they can get. Ghislaine is no scapegoat. She was a happy partner with Epstein in this whole mess.

I've waited so long for this trial to happen. I'm glad her day has finally come!

It'll be a giant letdown if she doesn't name names. Sure she needs to go down but that's not all we are hoping for here.

She knows everything. I hope she sings too. Since she's facing up to 70 years in prison she may come clean. I've heard there will probably be more arrests.

"Singing" during a trial gets you nowhere...that happens with plea deals.  If you're at trial, a plea deal is off the table.

Trials don't stop names from coming up in testimony. Or in evidence. It was always known that others were involved in the operation of Epstein's affairs.

As of noon the pilot, Visoski, Jr, was still on the witness stand. He testified that Maxwell was #2 in the hierarchy of Epstein's operations, right after Epstein himself. Pictures of Epstein's homes and properties were introduced. There are a lot of pictures of them throughout this thread.

The pilot testified that Prince Andrew, Trump and Clinton all flew on Epstein's plane. The New York Post is also reporting this but for some reason Chrome won't let me open their site. It's unsafe

The Duke of York has been dragged into the sex-trafficking trial of Ghislaine Maxwell after being listed as a passenger on disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s private planes.

Jurors trying the case at the court in the Southern District of New York were told Andrew was one of a number of high-profile figures to fly on the aircraft, including former US presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton and actor Kevin Spacey.

The first of the victims took the witness stand this afternoon. Not all the testimony is quoted here as the filter kicks in. It's graphic.

https://apnews.com/article/ghislaine-maxwell-trial-day-2-0aada37f104368c3dbbe127f1525f322

The witness, using the pseudonym “Jane,” was the first of four alleged victims expected to testify against Maxwell at a New York City trial where she is charged with recruiting and grooming girls for Epstein to sexually abuse from 1994 to at least 2004.

The witness first met Epstein in 1994 when she was attending a music camp in pursuit of a singing career, she said. He came up to her and introduced himself as a donor. They discovered that they both lived in Palm Beach, Florida, she said.

The woman and her mother soon received invitations to Epstein’s home, she said. He and Maxwell would take her shopping for clothes, including underwear from Victoria’s Secret, she said.

The cycle of abuse started when Epstein abruptly took her by hand one day and said, “Follow me,” before taking her to a pool house at the home. Then he pulled down his pants, pulled her close and “proceeded to m********e,” she said.

Another time, she was taken to a massage room where he and Maxwell both took advantage of her, she said.

Hopefully we'll have the little black book introduced and examined in open court.  I don't think the judge has ruled on that yet.

The defense attacked the credibility of the first accuser to testify.

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/defense-attacks-accusers-credibility-at-ghislaine-maxwell-trial/3428732/

Ghislaine Maxwell's defense attorneys sought Wednesday to undermine a key accuser’s allegation that the British socialite helped financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse the woman for years, starting when she was 14.

The trial witness, who has said she's using the pseudonym “Jane” to protect her 22-year acting career, had testified in graphic detail on Tuesday about the alleged encounters in the 1990s, portraying Maxwell as an active participant.

During a methodical cross examination, defense attorney Laura Menninger confronted the woman with FBI documents from 2019 and 2020, saying she had told the government her memory was foggy on whether Maxwell was present when Epstein molested her and on whether she ever touched her.

Other documents claimed she said that no abuse occurred during a visit to Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico. That contradicted her testimony about alleged encounters with him there that she said made “my heart sink into my stomach.”

The witness denied ever changing her story. She challenged the accuracy of the documents, saying her statements were never recorded.

“This was just someone jotting down notes. … A lot of these are not correct,” she said.

At another point, she responded, “I don’t recall saying what’s written here.”

The witness also said Epstein took her to meet Trump at Mar-A-Lago when she was 14.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/01/ghislaine-maxwell-trial-jeffrey-epstein-took-teen-girl-to-meet-trump-accuser-says.html

A woman who says she was sexually abused by late sex criminal and financier Jeffrey Epstein and British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell testified Wednesday that Epstein took her to meet Donald Trump at his Florida club when she was 14 years old.

The woman, in testimony at Maxwell’s federal sex crimes trial, did not allege any improper conduct by Trump when she met him at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Nor did the woman characterize what happened at that meeting, which she confirmed under cross-examination by Maxwell’s lawyer Laura Menninger in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

But the woman, who was testifying under the pseudonym “Jane,” also said she had competed in the 1998 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant, an event associated with Trump.

QAnon has decended on the courthouse because Trump's name came up in the pilot's testimony. This is from a very conservative source. Nothing about what the victim said about meeting Trump.

QAnon followers rushed to former President Donald Trump's defense after Jeffrey Epstein's longtime pilot named him and several other prominent VIPs as passengers on the "Lolita Express" private plane during testimony Tuesday at Ghislaine Maxwell's criminal sex trafficking trial.

A former house manager for Epstein in Florida testified today the he would pick up "Jane" and take her to the house with Epstein and Ghislaine.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-people-ghislaine-maxwell-idUSKBN2IH11T

Juan Alessi’s testimony comes on the fourth day of Maxwell’s sex abuse trial in Manhattan federal court.

Alessi, who worked full-time for Epstein from 1991 to 2002, said the woman, known in court by the pseudonym Jane, appeared to be 14 or 15 years old when she first came to the Florida house with her mother in 1994. After that, Alessi said he would drive Jane alone to the home, where she spent time with Maxwell and Epstein.

In eight hours of explicit, emotional testimony on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jane testified that she had sexual encounters with Epstein between the ages of 14 and 16 at the Palm Beach home and at Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico. She said Maxwell participated in many of the encounters.

Alessi described Jane as “strikingly beautiful.” He said he once drove Jane, who was carrying luggage, from the Palm Beach home to an airport and watched her get on a plane with Epstein, Maxwell, and Maxwell’s dog, a small Yorkie named Max.

A psychologist also testified about sexual predators.

 https://www.wcia.com/news/national/maxwell-jurors-hear-expert-testimony-about-sexual-predators/

NEW YORK (AP) — Jurors at Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial got a psychologist’s overview Thursday of how sexual predators gradually lure and ensnare child victims, a view that defense lawyers tried to keep out of the British socialite’s sex trafficking trial.

“Child sexual abuse is a process,” Lisa Rocchio testified, providing expert perspective but no particulars about the accusers in the case against Maxwell. She is charged with helping to recruit underage teenage girls into sexual abuse by the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Rocchio she had evaluated hundreds of child sexual abuse victims, though she has never interviewed any of Maxwell’s accusers.

The psychologist told the jury that abusers often groom their victims in a progression that includes giving presents, building a sense of trust and gradually introducing more sexualized talk and touching. Victims often don’t come forward right away, she said.

Before the trial, Maxwell’s lawyers tried unsuccessfully to block Rocchio’s testimony, saying it didn’t have enough scientific grounding.

After she took the stand, defense lawyer Jeffrey Pagliuca suggested that some things she described as grooming — such as giving gifts, taking children to special places or paying them attention — could also be innocuous.
