Sir Wearer of Hats Posted April 5, 2022 #6452 Share Posted April 5, 2022 4 hours ago, determinism said: Whatever the veracity of the claims about girls being held at gunpoint (dubious to say the least), Virginia Giuiffre was not as she was offered a job as a masseuse and presumably gladly accepted of her own volition. Why didn't she make a complaint to the authorities at the time? Because, perhaps, the stunningly rich, influential and powerful people involved told her no one would believe her and Lo-and-behold the moment she did speak up - no one believed her. 6 1 Top

+susieice Posted April 8, 2022 #6454 Share Posted April 8, 2022 Ghislaine's siblings are deeply shocked that her bid for a new trial was denied. The judge ruled that the juror in question did not deliberately lie on the questionnaire and held no bias towards Ghislaine. +susieice Posted April 8, 2022 #6455 Share Posted April 8, 2022 Prince Charles and Prince William both voiced their disapproval to the Queen about Prince Andrew being her escort at the memorial service for Prince Philip. The Queen was shocked by it. https://epicstream.com/article/queen-elizabeth-shock-prince-charles-irritated-monarch-for-allegedly-going-against-prince-andrews-attendance-at-prince-philips-memorial The Queen has mobility issues which sparked some concern if she would attend her husband's memorial service. The Queen did with a walking stick in one hand and Prince Andrew assisting her. There were rumors that the Duke of York insisted on being the Queen's escort to redeem his reputation and return to the royal folds. He allegedly believed that being seen with his mother will be a sign of endorsement. However, royal commentator and biographer Robert Jobson denied the allegations. According to him, the Queen insisted to have Prince Andrew because he is the only one among her children without a partner. "The Queen made her decision for her own reasons. She was not bullied into [it] by Andrew," Jobson tweeted after the Queen received an intense backlash for having Prince Andrew as her escort. "She asked him to accompany her, and if the Queen asks you to do something, it is not a request. The vitriol against Her Majesty is awful. I am not backing Andrew, but it was the Queen's call." 2 1 Top

+susieice Posted June 24, 2022 #6457 Share Posted June 24, 2022 (edited) Ghislaine's sentencing hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 28. The prosecutors have recommended a sentence of 30-55 years. Maybe she will serve some real time for what she's done. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ghislaine-maxwell-30-years-in-prison-federal-prosecutors-argue/ Her lawyers say they want 4.25-5.25 years. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/23/us/ghislaine-maxwell-sentence-recommend/index.html "But this Court cannot sentence Ms. Maxwell as if she were a proxy for Epstein simply because Epstein is no longer here,” her attorneys wrote in their sentencing recommendation. “Ms. Maxwell cannot and should not bear all the punishment for which Epstein should have been held responsible.” “The lenient sentence the defendant seeks would send the message that there is one system of laws for the rich and powerful, and another set for everyone else,” prosecutors wrote. The filing comes a week before her expected sentencing on June 28. Maxwell, 60, was found guilty of five federal charges in December: sex trafficking of a minor, transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and three related counts of conspiracy. However, she will only be sentenced on three counts after the judge presiding over her case agreed that two of the conspiracy counts she faced were repetitive. The probation department recommended a 20-year sentence, below the sentencing guidelines. Prosecutors are also requesting that the court impose a maximum allowable fine of $750,000. “As part of a disturbing agreement with Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell identified, groomed, and abused multiple victims, while she enjoyed a life of extraordinary luxury and privilege,” the prosecution wrote. “In her wake, Maxwell left her victims permanently scarred with emotional and psychological injuries. That damage can never be undone, but it can be accounted for in crafting a just sentence for Maxwell’s crimes.” Edited June 24, 2022 by susieice 3 Top
Wistman Posted June 25, 2022 #6458 Share Posted June 25, 2022 ‘You Opened the Door to Hell’: Ghislaine Maxwell Survivors Speak Out in Just-Released Victim Impact Statements Before Sentencing Jun 24th, 2022, 6:58 pm Quote One of the most vocal survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking operation never had the chance to take the stand at the latter’s trial, but in a written statement released Friday, Virginia Giuffre spoke to the soon-to-be-sentenced Brit directly. “Ghislaine, twenty-two years ago, in the summer of 2000, you spotted me at the Mar-a-Lago Hotel in Florida, and you made a choice,” Giuffre wrote in a letter. “You chose to follow me and procure me for Jeffrey Epstein. Just hours later, you and he abused me together for the first time. Together, you damaged me physically, mentally, sexually, and emotionally. Together, you did unthinkable things that still have a corrosive impact on me to this day.” That Maxwell met Giuffre at former President Donald Trump’s Palm Beach club Mar-a-Lago has long been known, and it was indeed the subject of testimony at Maxwell’s trials. Four victims took the stand against Maxwell, three of them under pseudonyms. Giuffre was not one of the women called, but her shadow loomed heavily over the trial. Quote Maxwell has claimed that she is being targeted as a stand-in for the crimes of the now-deceased Epstein, who died behind bars before his trial, but Giuffre made clear: Maxwell was indispensable to his cycle of abuse. https://lawandcrime.com/live-trials/ghislaine-maxwell/you-opened-the-door-to-hell-ghislaine-maxwell-survivors-speak-out-in-just-released-victim-impact-statements-before-sentencing/ 4 Top

Eldorado Posted June 28, 2022 #6462 Share Posted June 28, 2022 How long do UK murderers serve in prison? Every year around 300 people in England and Wales are given a life sentence for murder. About 5,300 people are currently serving a prison sentence for the same. And around 300 people annually are released having served the prison part of their sentence. On average, those who are released will have served about 16.5 years in jail, with a life on licence with the probation service to follow, unless they are recalled to prison. https://fullfact.org/crime/how-long-do-murderers-serve-prison/ Mandatory life sentences in Murder cases https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/sentencing-mandatory-life-sentences-murder-cases 2 Top

There are so many variables in sentencing in the U.S. and murder is classified in so many ways, manslaughter, murder second degree, murder 1st degree, and all can have special circumstances. However the minimun sentence for accessory to murder which is defined differently in every state is 10 years. Depending on the state, 1st degree murder (premeditated) is life in prison or death. (actual life in prison, no getting out for any reason except death) Edited June 28, 2022 by Desertrat56 1 Top

The rest of your life, or 30 years or 25 years or 15 years. It all depends on the circumstances, same as in the US. Kill a judge, for example, and you'll probable die behind bars. If agreed upon by Senior U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska, the schedule would call for fact discovery to close on Nov. 30, 2022 and expert discovery to wrap by Feb. 15, 2023. [...] Giuffre has alleged that she was instructed to have sex with Dershowitz. She sued him for defamation in 2019, after he responded to those allegations by calling her a “certified, complete, total liar.” Dershowitz filed a countersuit later that year, and their litigation stagnated amid the COVID-19 pandemic and furious activity on the Epstein docket. [...] With other Epstein-related matters settling down, Giuffre’s wrangling with Dershowitz continues to accelerate. Giuffre is expected to resume a deposition via Zoom from Australia, where she lives, later this month on July 26. Dershowitz’s deposition will take place in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 30 and 31. Guiffre’s lawyers say that they identified three affirmative expert witnesses, but they may call others if Dershowitz continues to claim physical, emotional, and mental damages.
