This does though have a serious point; this kind of petulant outburst does make very clear what he'd do to any country that didn't go along with his demands in any more serious foreign policy issue; such as, for instance, over Iran or Israel. If any country refused to do what America ordered it to, then America wouldn't be its friend any more (and might wield the weapon of Sanctions at worst). That's the corner that Borish Johnson has backed himself into; by treating Europe with disdain he's more or less obliged himself to be the sycophantic yes-man to a man who believes that he was sent by God to be the saviour of the world.

Delusional.

No not him! lol

I think his "petulance" was to do with the language that the Danish PM used to reject his proposal, rather than the rejection itself.

Mind you.. he's hardly one to complain :P

You know what I hate though. She insulted the idea and rather than defend the idea he insulted the individual.  Thats the kind of **** I smack my kids on the back of the head for.

It is the left trying to portray him as a moron and his Presidency as a freakshow. It is the left crying and getting hysterical over his leadership. It is the left reporting fake news in the media to try and get rid of him. And everybody but the left can see he is consistently and rather successfully doing his best to wind them up. They fall for it every time lol.

Was just reading an article and was flashed back to this post

The Trump campaign and the early days  of his administration were marked by the charming window when most of his supporters—and frankly, much of the mainstream media—believed that the vomitus spraying out of Trump's mouth was part of some clever psychological game, quantum chess to own the libs.

Only idiots and zealots believe that now.

That is for sure.  I do really like their motto 'non partisan but not neutral'.

Last year the US economy grew by 3.1% which is a minor boom.

This year has been going well so far but due to the US trade war with China growth is now expected to come in at 2.25 to 2.5%. Thats not a recession, its normal economic growth.

There is no evidence at all for a coming recession just media articles claiming one is on the way with nothing to back up their stance. Its desperation, its clutching at straws, its the hope somehow a negative economic miracle will happen to stop him being re-elected. As someone outside the US it really is quite sad to watch.

Its so bad I think the US media should be banned from reporting on politics. Whether we are talking about a pro-Democrat or a pro-Republican media outlet things over there are so unbelievably biased its making a mockery of Democracy.

Where did you get those numbers from?  The US economy grew by 2.9% last year: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-economy/u-s-economic-growth-in-2018-misses-trumps-3-percent-target-idUSKCN1QH0HO

China is also expected to grow 6.2%:  https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-economy-imf/citing-trade-tensions-imf-cuts-chinas-2019-gdp-growth-forecast-to-6-2-from-6-3-idUSKCN1T60MP

I personally prefer political leaders to be serious and working hard to make the country a better place, rather than throw temper tantrums and seek attention. But thats just me I guess.

In real people world, a boss that messes with his employees is called, "Toxic Management".  How many of these fit Trump? : https://www.inc.com/marcel-schwantes/how-do-you-know-you-work-for-a-toxic-manager-they-will-do-any-of-these-10-things-daily.html

Companies that have toxic management tend to have high turn over and/or just plain fail.

No, it is. Go to wiki (or an economics site) and learn about how Governments use fiscal policy to regulate demand. Then read the article again.

Or follow the advice of a Nobel prize winning Economist that says a trade deficit isn't a problem.

With a tiny amount of research, I found that the Danish government turned over the mineral rights in Greenland to the Greenlanders.  They are working on developing them.  The deal with Denmark is that the subsidy that Denmark is paying diminishes and goes away when enough resources get developed.

https://gettingthedealthrough.com/area/22/jurisdiction/120/mining-greenland/

At present, there are six exploitation licences in Greenland: a gold mine in south Greenland, an iron ore deposit, a gemstone deposit, a lead and zinc mine, an anorthosite mine in west Greenland, and a lead and zinc mine in northern Greenland for which licences covering iron, gem stones, anorthosite and one of the lead and zinc mines were granted in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Generally, mineral exploration activity has increased in the past 10 years since the world mining community has become more aware of Greenland’s mineral potential. It is therefore expected that new mines will be opened in the coming years and that the mining industry will become more important to Greenland.

Metallic minerals in the ground of Greenland belong to Greenland’s government, and prospecting and exploration for and exploitation of mineral resources in Greenland can only be carried out under licences granted according to the Mineral Resources Act.

https://www.reuters.com/article/greenland-china-oil-gas/update-2-greenland-will-offer-oil-gas-concessions-next-year-minister-idUSL4N1N63TY

UPDATE 2-Greenland will offer oil, gas concessions next year -minister.

These people are not stupid.  They know what they are sitting on.  Denmark is carrying the ball until Greenland becomes self sufficient.  But maybe Denmark is not suffering so awful much either.

Denmark recorded a Government Budget surplus equal to 0.50 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product in 2018. Government Budget in Denmark averaged 0.24 percent of GDP from 1995 until 2018.

https://tradingeconomics.com/denmark/government-budget

That seems to include the subsidy to Greenland, Universal Health Care, parental leave, inexpensive prescription drugs, good retirement benefits, and a free college education to all students from the EU.  All of the things we despise about socialism. So maybe the Danes are not hurting as much as the President likes to think

In FY 2019, total US government spending, federal, state, and local, is “guesstimated” to be 35.8 percent GDP.

I bet a lot of people would like our budget to be as low in the US. where the government does not run surpluses and the budget runs a lot bigger % of GDP without even thinking about good medical care for all, parental leave, and free college education.

https://www.usgovernmentspending.com/percent_gdp

Denmark says Greenlanders get to vote on what happens.  How would you look at it if you were a Greenlander?

A foreign government will take their mineral rights and give them to their campaign contributors.

Those concerns will pollute the air and water and their communities the same way they did in Montana, West Virginia and other states.

Their new US education system will be below their current Scandinavian standard.  They won't get a free college education.

They won't get parental leave, good medical insurance or equivalent retirement benefits.

The US probably won't exterminate the Inuit citizens but they may try to give their land to developers and and stick them on less valuable reservations.

In addition they will have to be part of a crazy, violent, and what might seem like a  sh**hole country to them.

Doesn't seem like a very good deal for the Greenlanders.

Doesn't seem like much of a deal for the average US citizen either.  We pay for the acquisition, multinational corporations make the profits.

Trump Joked About Swapping Puerto Rico for Greenland: Report

Months before President Trump made laughable headlines by expressing his interest in purchasing Greenland, he reportedly joked with aides and floated the idea of trading Puerto Rico for the Danish territory in a meeting last year, The New York Times reports.

Denmark should sell Greenland for a exorbitous amount.

When the amount is paid, the Greenland declares independence and the deal falls through....freedom baby.

Just out of curiosity, can the USA sell, for example, California?

Please dont adress the "will of the people" or the constitution nonsense, cause Trump just tried to buy Greenland

Imagine the outrage if some foreign country signalled a desire to buy Hawaii. Not surprised the Danes were not impressed by such public grandstanding by Trump, any such proposal ought be canvassed through diplomatic channels, if at all.

Trump - I'll swap you Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for Greenland

Danish PM - No deal

Trump - Ok, here's an offer you can't refuse, I'll throw in the Bikini Atoll from the Marshall Islands as well.  Imagine all the tourism and the summer beach resorts in a place called Bikini Atoll.

Spoiler

The Bikini Atoll is a Unesco World Heritage Site and is dangerous for two reasons: nuclear radiation and sharks. It was the site of more than 20 nuclear weapons tests between 1946 and 1958, and – although the islands were declared 'safe' in 1997 – their original inhabitants have refused to return. Eating locally grown produce is not advised. So no chomping on fallen coconuts.

Furthermore, the lack of fishing in the area during the past 65 years means that sea life – including sharks – have flourished which, along with the numerous shipwrecks in the region, attracts hundreds of divers each year.

Danish PM - Sounds like a really good deal, you're not trying to fib me are you?

Trump - Would I do something like that??!!

There is nothing like reading a biased left wing media article trying to tell the right wing that they were against Trump.

The shear delusional arrogance of those lefties is remarkable. Not only do they think they own the moral high ground but now they also think they are an authority on what the right think. Crazy...… and too the point that the cogs dont go around properly in their heads.

I believe the correct term is `psychotic` lmao.
