Trump wants to bomb hurricanes

Unusual Tournament

Recommended Posts

I think we should focus on the cancer seeding windmills first.. Prioritise people, prioritise.

Wait.. Maybe we can employ nuclear weapons against these vile things, maliciously situated across America, target the eye of the mill.. and drop a nuclear tactical (yes, I know the best words) bomb into it.. to fight cancer!

I watched The Apprentice--I know when not to.

Maybe he'll change his mind when someone tells him the cost of a single nuke. The US Govt made an analysis on North Korean nukes, each warhead costs between $18 million and $53 million. link

I'm sure US nukes are more sophisticated and would cost more and between the two I'm sure he would choose not to dilapidate money over some casualties due to natural causes.

We get a discount for buying in bulk

He really is like a crazy uneducated uncle at Thanksgiving. I could easily hear this "solution" being thrown out a million times a day by people where I live.

"Why don't we just nuke 'em!? It worked on the tornados in that shark movie! It's science! Why hasn't anyone else thought of this yet?!"

What America needs is a President that makes being an American feel Great, Again, a Great Uniter,  of all of us, not another Great Divider. Unfortunately, that's all either side has to offer.

There can never be a uniter.  Half the people want free stuff and have government run their lives and the other half want to do things for themselves and keep government out of their lives.  There can only be a split or a purge.  Pro-Constitution vs anti-Constitution.  A split will not last as the Socialist government will eventually collapse and there will proceed to be a purge anyway.  A purge will be with extreme prejudice and I have a feeling that if it goes that far, those that are gun lovers will win out.  In the end, it will probably be healthy for this country to cull the trouble makers and send them to a Socialist nation.  I know that sounds very stark but we have gotten to the point that we can no longer hide the fact that the Constitution and Socialism are by nature, irreconcilable.  Seriously, for those on either side, how can we be united without it being capitulation?  It wouldn’t be a uniter but a conceder or betrayer.

’m surprisingly okay with this, tbh.

Well. Not the nuclear thing, because fallout — but the whole “Trump making an off-the-wall” suggestion thing.

IMO, there’s no such thing as a stupid idea, when you’re brainstorming solutions. It’s not like anyone else has solved it, yet.

I think his intentions were good — and honestly — nice to see he cares enough about the damage hurricanes cause to try and pitch a solution.

Every President has some crazy ideas, we just don't hear about most of them.  The Twitter feed and off the cuff comments reveal a lot more than most former Presidents.  Its like he is sitting in the oval office in his skivvies  with ketchup stains on his T-shirt , the Cabinet and press walk in, he belches and says,  "Guess what I been thinkin?"  A lot of people feel comfortable with that.

Maybe we could just send the "constitutionalists" to a forest where they can murder each other for sport to see who survives and ends up with the most stuff.

All kidding and analogies aside, I am with Tiggs on this one.  It is not a big deal,  I don't doubt that he said it, but it is not that stupid if you are just asking how to mitigate a hurricane that you know will cause billions of dollars worth of damage and loss of life.   There are better ways no doubt, but usually we just sit and wait and let them come.

My experience has been that if the media are caught twisting his words or are cold-busted lying about him people get comfortable with dismissing everything they say.  He denies saying it and unless there is video of it I wouldn't bother to even follow up.  Most of the craziness is designed just to wind up childish, hateful media minions.  And it keeps working to perfection even after 3 years.

That's a fraction of the cost of a devastating hurricane.  Billions in federal aid goes out after some of the more serious storms.

Sure you are right.  I almost feel like I'm betraying my liberal principles by thinking it is no big deal, and that everybody deserves a mulligan once in a while.  I can't bring myself to get worked up over it though.

Maybe skliss, but are you thinking that he is sitting at a desk in a coat and tie at 3:00 AM when he puts out the odd twitter?  We have never been this close to the uncensored thoughts of any President.  Maybe that is good, it is certainly transparent  as far as his thought stream goes.

Nukes are probably not the best idea but multiple large thermobaric weapons might be able to work, that is assuming that an explosion could even stop a hurricane which I'm not even sure if its physically possible plus the thermobaric bombs would be insanely massive.

Even then without doubt there would be some faction of environmentalists that would protest hurricanes being stopped, more then likely hurricanes probably play some important role in that region's biosphere and stopping them would probably mess it up.

By exalting our commonalities--not our differences; by not painting each other, in one broad stroke, with the same brush we should reserve for our extremists. By acknowledging each other's essential humanity and forging a new respect for our sincerely felt differences of opinion and outlook. We are all Americans and we must find the way to live together in hope, in peace and prosperity. If we do not find a way, no one will.
