Then in that case Boris can do what he likes. He would have a clear mandate and majority to work with. Why he didn’t call an election immediately must be perplexing to his supporters. It’s certainly to me. But do you really think he win?

He called for an election and the opposition bottled it, even though the date would be before 31st, i believe tomorrow he will yet again offer an election. but no doubt the opposition will bottle it again, many of them this time not voting but abstaining, which is even a worse shithouse trick. 

Do i think he'd win? i think he could, and its not only me who thinks that the opposition do also, they don't fancy their chances with Boris in charge. the only opposition in History to refuse an Election. then they made up all sorts of excuses why. which the public can see straight through.

Thats disingenuous of Boris. He called an election in the knowledge that whatever the outcome the time line would favour Leave-No deal. He has a martyr mentality and thinks this is about Parliament Vs. the people. So kudos to the remainers for snuffing this suicidal plan of Boris.

The days of ousting the reminders are well and truly over. Half his parliamentary colleagues are remainers.

The election date would have been 14th October. leaving plenty of time for any resulting govt to remain if they chose to. the opposition turned down this golden opportunity for the people to show their gratitude.

Boris and his mate Dom, had a game plan with a fall back, they thought the had all angles covered. run down the clock to a no deal Brexit (perhaps they get lucky and the EU would cave in - but the duo weren't going to make any proposals likely to be acceptable). If as as threatened the HoP interfered, then go for an election and win. The election was the key to the fall back, it gave him full control of timetables amongst other things.

Boris claimed he wanted a deal and was working to get a deal, as Rudd has said this was pure B/S, just as his claim not to want an election is B/S, not only does he want one - you can see the desperation, and the total dismay, when that part of his plan failed to materialise.  

But lets take him as his word - even as recently as the disastrous Police Academy speech, he said he didn't want an election. The House should take pity on him and just for once grant him his wish and block an election tomorrow night.

Are you talking about the Tory party or the whole of Parliament?

Boris has cleared the decks in the Party, as evident by the Benn Bill where just 1 Tory MP voted against the Govt. when it comes to the remainder in Parliament its now up to the people in an election to clear the decks. Parliament knows what's coming their way, hence they dont want an election.

2 weeks isn't plenty of time. Boris is just counting down the clock. And he's done that for the past 3 years. He is a liar that cannot be trusted. No Boris has to face the music. Besides whats the big deal of the WA? its not like its gonna disappear. At some point the UK and EU will have to sit down and talk about the future. Why does Boris and Co. think that they can kill this?

Correct, it just takes a 2 minute call to extend Article 50.

The opposition dont want a General Election because they know a party can get a decent majority in the House of Commons from 35% of the vote. Thats far less than the 52% who were motivated to vote for leave! lol.

What a dumb plan. as if the WA agreement is gonna go away. Its still relevant as long as trade happens between the UK and EU. I believe that an election will hand Boris his own **** on a plate. The people going to an election would be a referendum in sorts and knowing more about Brexit and Boris will lose. 

Extend article 50 and have an election. Lets see that smirk wiped of the face of Boris.

The polls for months have remain consistently the favoured option. There may have been a majority for leave in 2016 but there is very likely not in 2019.

But the attraction for the leavers in that the remain vote is more split than the leave one, hence due to the nature of elections here there is no guarantee that a remain parliament would result.

The polls show a lead for Tories, but combined the remain parties have the majority. However, what the leavers need to consider is that polls tend to be England centric, and Scotland and NI will play an important part here.

In Scotland the Tories could lose 12 seats. In NI the leave DUP could lose 3. the important point here being that the 3 likely to replace the DUP would actually take seats in Parliament. So the leavers could be 18 (yes + an extra 3 occupied seats in the House) seats down on current parliamentary maths, before an english vote is counted.

Likewise Boris doesn't want the opposition controlling the timetable hence is can't call a vote of no confidence in himself as that would be amendable by the Opposition to insist in a date after 31 October.

The Rebels, dear boy the Rebels. since clearing the decks only 1 Tory voted against the Govt on the Benn Bill. Boris as got the party ready for an election. Labour meanwhile still have their decks to clear, between Momentum, Blairites, and Tradition labour. and all the while still 13 points behind if the polls are to be believed.

Well thats not true either. Boris only scared the chit outta the front benches. the rest of the Tory party (1922 committee) isn't exactly thrilled with his actions. You know Boris reminds me of a new emperor that thinks power only resides in the inner circle.
