Economic Attractiveness

What person wouldn't want a robot partner that looks like whatever their ideal is, acts how you find ideal, always complies with your wishes, and you can put in a closet when you are done with?  With such a robot is there any motivation to improve yourself to be more compatible with another living person (with their undesirable traits)?

You hit the nail on the head with this one, no reason to mature and become considerate of others either.

Is it our children's destiny to fulfill the curse and become a nation of deplorables?

On a brighter note, gay marriages are at an all time high...

The tubby part isn't the problem.  Is he interesting?  Does he read books or watch only sports on television.  Can he cook and does he own a shovel?  Does he like to leave the house more than just going to work or a sporting event?

He cooks, he reads, he thinks shovels are for leaning on and the last sport event he went to was watching his underdog students have a whale of a time at inter school cricket.

So are gay divorces...another case of the only beneficiaries are the lawyers.

I think marriage is yet another casualty of the " me, me, me " generation. Marriage takes work and these days people expect instant perfection...Marriage as a series of perfect Instagram photos. They don't really know how to relate/communicate to another person on an intimate, day to day level. Hubby and I are 27 years this month.

One other thing I will mention as a contributing factor as we are having an adult discussion....My friend was telling me about a book or series of articles she has recently read by an ex internet porn "star".  She said this woman, in part, was talking about how internet porn is an industry, i.e. big business and that it has nothing to do with sex but with getting more clicks than the next guy. They need to generate business and capture interest immediately to do so and so they push these girls into more and more unrealistic and different scenarios and situations which are being seen by younger and younger people as there's no way if your kid is on-line to avoid it. Psychologically its messing them up at a fundamental level about what normal "turn-ons" should be or would have been for them and giving them unrealistic expectations as to the activity itself and what to reasonably expect from a partner. Hope that made sense.

Yes it does, there's a nice TED talk on the points you just raised, it's been a long time but if I remember correctly it's titled "make love, not porn"

You can find it on the TED site, I don't think I am allowed to link it here.

Duh....I meant to say  married 27 years. (Though we did both just celebrate our birthdays.....lol) Is it easy..?...no...but I was never told it would be just that you should take your time and get it right. And that the most important thing to remember was Communication!

I saw this the other day. Marriage is imploding b.c what woman are doing to the men. There is no economic reason anymore for a man to get married.

Disgusting isn't it.  Bring back the Dowry.

i can't blame women at all, they are doing the best they can to support their kids, or future kids,  financial factor is one of the most important one in today 's life,  they are sacrificing their happiness by living with a man they married for money, so their kids are taken care of. i kinda feel bad for those ladies.

What are you on about?  You feel sorry for their choices?  Once women didn't have much of a choice.

about things you seem to have no clue about, move along, nothing to see here for you.

You're right, I don't have a clue about what goes on in your little head.  Nothing there either..

What is there to feel sorry about?  They're opportunists who value wealth over happiness.
