What the article did not mention is that there is a safari style zoo next door. It's the Bayou Wildlife zoo and it is 5 miles away. They do not mention monkeys but do mention lemurs. Did they lose one of their animals?

I was thinking a chimp if it tried to snatch a cat. Many captive chimps are given them as pets/companions.

Big Foot.

Too obvious.

Lets dramatize this and say it was an escaped monkey. (I know its far fetched, but kind of bored with big foot now, we need to up the story).

Like Florida, doesnt Texas have very lax exotic animal laws? I can see some rich coked out guy letting it loose cause it started to get mean instead of cute.

There is a difference between a monkey and an ape. Most monkeys have a tail, apes do not. Apes have an appendix and monkeys do not.

There are many differences between apes and monkeys, not just a lack of tails in apes.

And while prosimians and new world monkeys do not have an appendix, certain old world monkeys do have a appendix vermiformis.

I was thinking that, years ago at Taronga zoo here the chimps were catching possums and eating them, they didn't know of this hunting behaviour before that if I'm correct.

Also could be a baboon, have seen them rip antelope apart on doco's.There was a true to life movie when they were killing and eating people in a drought.

being attacked and hurt or killed by a primate is one thing that could happen but theres also that hepatitis that some primates get that kills humans not even a bad attack and the person still dies.

Weak little article but multiple independent witnesses gets my attention.

Possibilities include cryptid or escaped or released known primate.

Aww that sounded so cute when they said it was trying to make off with a cat. I had no idea they kept them as pets @Piney :o

Alas, it was probably just @Imaginarynumber1 terrorizing some poor man trying to check his mailbox.

I suspect it is nothing but some Monkey business, hope people are smart enough to just leave it alone.
