Popular Post stereologist Posted September 12, 2019 Popular Post #2 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Had to look up the location of this town and it is between Houston, one of the largest cities in the US, and Galveston. I see that it is near Dickinson. I've been there a few times. It is a part of the wet portion of Texas with lots of trees. What the article did not mention is that there is a safari style zoo next door. It's the Bayou Wildlife zoo and it is 5 miles away. They do not mention monkeys but do mention lemurs. Did they lose one of their animals? https://www.bayouwildlifezoo.com/ Remember that the place went through Harvey. Is it possible that an enclosure was weakened and this allowed an animal escape? It might not be that zoo. It could be from a private owner. It could be from one of the other wildlife parks in the area. 6

Many captive chimps are given them as pets/companions. 3 1

stereologist Posted September 12, 2019 #12 Share Posted September 12, 2019 I hope this critter gets back to a safe enclosure where it feels safe and people do not have to worry about the animal either.

AstralHorus Posted September 12, 2019 #14 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Like Florida, doesnt Texas have very lax exotic animal laws? I can see some rich coked out guy letting it loose cause it started to get mean instead of cute.
Roshman Posted September 12, 2019 #15 Share Posted September 12, 2019 There is a difference between a monkey and an ape. Most monkeys have a tail, apes do not. Apes have an appendix and monkeys do not.

And while prosimians and new world monkeys do not have an appendix, certain old world monkeys do have a appendix vermiformis.

the13bats Posted September 13, 2019 #19 Share Posted September 13, 2019 being attacked and hurt or killed by a primate is one thing that could happen but theres also that hepatitis that some primates get that kills humans not even a bad attack and the person still dies. 1
papageorge1 Posted September 13, 2019 #20 Share Posted September 13, 2019 Weak little article but multiple independent witnesses gets my attention. Possibilities include cryptid or escaped or released known primate. Papameter: 50% Known Primate 30% Cryptid 20% Total Bunk Story 1
Gwynbleidd Posted September 13, 2019 #21 Share Posted September 13, 2019 Aww that sounded so cute when they said it was trying to make off with a cat. I had no idea they kept them as pets @Piney Alas, it was probably just @Imaginarynumber1 terrorizing some poor man trying to check his mailbox. 1
