Popular Post Still Waters Posted September 14, 2019 Popular Post #1 Share Posted September 14, 2019 Burglars have reportedly stolen a solid gold toilet worth £1m from Blenheim Palace, just two days after it went on display. The 18ct lavatory, designed by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan was part of a new exhibition at the country home where Winston Churchill was born and was apparently removed in the early hours of this morning, but later recovered. The piece is called "America" had had been plumbed into the water system so that visitors could fully engage with the artwork, as long as they obeyed a three-minute time slot. It had previously drawn huge crowds at New York's Guggenheim museum when it first went on display in 2016 and was later offered to Donald Trump, in a satirical jibe at the President. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/09/14/blenheim-palace-closed-amid-speculation-golden-toilet-has-stolen/ 3

Seti42 Posted September 14, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2019 (edited) I'd read it's 18K gold and 103kg (about 230 lbs.) and worth about $4 million... https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/14/world/europe/golden-going-gone-18-karat-gold-toilet-is-stolen.html?action=click&module=News&pgtype=Homepage I thought it'd be heavier, I mean, 103kg is only the weight of one large-ish guy. Stiff Posted September 14, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2019 I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it. After all, they must have a Number One suspect. And a Number Two.

RoofGardener Posted September 16, 2019 #11 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Yes.. how DID they steal it ? I mean.. you've got to break into the palace, and then somehow move a 100Kg object through the palace and out into the yard ? 100Kg is HEAVY. Even four people would end up being flushed moving THAT weight ? Doesn't the palace have burglar alarms ? Or security guards ?
