A young black panther found prowling the roofs of a northern French town has been captured by emergency services.

Astonished residents in Armentières near Lille gazed at the powerful feline walking along a second floor ledge and going in and out of an open window for nearly an hour on Wednesday.

Police made a cordon in case it jumped while rescuers entered the building calmly so as not to shock the big cat.

A vet was then able to tranquilise it with a dart.

  • The title was changed to Black panther found prowling roofs in France

Awww...Giant deadly kitten!
Seriously though, I'm glad they caught it safely and I hope whoever was illegally housing it gets punished.

They need to find who USED to own it and dart them too. Put THEM in a cage.

I'd probably have opened window and let it in. All cats are friendly!

This post, sadly, was the last we ever heard from Bed of Chaos, as soone after they made it they were eaten by a mountain lion.

Latest....

A black panther rescued from rooftops near the northern city of Lille last week has been stolen from the zoo where it was taken after capture, officials said.

The feline was seized overnight from the zoo in Maubeuge near the Belgian border, the city's mayor, Arnaud Decagny, told AFP on Tuesday.

"This animal was the only target," Decagny said, adding that "considerable efforts" were made to force locks and avoid security systems.

Animal activists probably stole it, and likely just released it into "The Wild" just outside the city.

See it all the time here in the US.
